Re: Thank You For A Nice Tech Feature On This Forum

People have the duty to act kindly towards others, but we are all responsible for our own well-being. That means having a thick skin, and not letting randos on the internet manipulate our emotions. As annoying as some people are, I've not blocked anyone before. Even annoying people can have interest...

Re: Chevy replacing bad batteries

The honeymoon over comment is because, to me, I no longer have the shiny new car. There's always a point where it's no longer new. For some, it's when the dog throws up in it, right? The climate control repairs on my previous Leaf rendered me a car that was never the same, and much less enjoyable. ...

Re: Too much regen in D mode

Can't argue with an anarchist! Not only is this sentence an ad hominem logical fallacy (I never said I was an anarchist), it isn't even factually true (you can argue with an anarchist). Good luck defending yourself when you are in an accident! :o A person involved in an accident isn't automatically...

Re: miles due to regeneration

Friction brakes are 100% loss, and regen is at least 50% loss - so better, but you will still lose energy. I think that might be a bit of a pessimistic estimate for regen efficiency, although I do agree that it is far less than 100%. The conversion process is; kinetic > electrical > chemical > elec...

Re: Too much regen in D mode

And of course, coasting in N is unsafe; just everyone who does it argues they can do it "safely," just like a driver who routinely ignores the speed limit argues they can drive safely that way, too! You're starting to get it! Coasting in N is unsafe like walking outside is unsafe. Of cour...

Re: Too much regen in D mode

How long before we read about someone in neutral coasting downhill* who inadvertently pushed the button and shoves his car into reverse? You tell me, since you're the one proclaiming the extreme dangers of a neutral car, which is almost an oxymoron. Good luck convincing a judge that the intention o...

Re: Elevation Effect

The Bolt has strong Regen in L, but you tell me it doesn't matter if D or L is used on the highway, because coasting is best. No, I said precisely "Flat uninterrupted highway travel doesn't matter if you use D or L modes, since braking will never occur. " Nowhere did I mention coasting. T...

Re: Elevation Effect

Drafting a truck can significantly reduce aerodynamic drag though, so maybe pick the fastest moving truck to follow. No where did I ever claim to be "drafting' trucks on the Grapevine! This is a discussion of regeneration vs. coasting. Please try to not raise red herring issues that I am not d...

Re: Elevation Effect

When the truck I drive behind northbound on the Grapevine is traveling 45 MPH, I recapture 1.5 KW using cruise control and L; when it is traveling the speed limit, 35 MPH, I recapture 2.0 KW; an obvious difference that I would prefer to have while only driving about 2 minutes longer on the 5 miles ...

Re: Elevation Effect

I'm not sure what the argument is, but a few comments. Motors are generators, and generators are motors. The difference only being if kinetic energy is being converted to electricity (generator), or electricity is being converted into kinetic energy (motor). Magnetic fields induce electricity, and e...
