Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

The lease gave me the flexibility to walk away from the Volt, free and clear, and obtain the Bolt EV a little over 3 months later. I wanted the similar flexibility to gain the “state of the art” for the next BEV in January 2020. . . . HOwever, it appears that the Bolt EV was: (a) ahead of the curve...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

When I buy out my Bolt EV at the end of my lease in January for the residual, I will have paid approx the full MSRP that was offered to me at the time I first acquired it. And the lease company will get the benefit of the federal tax credit, which was of no value to me at that time anyway. Waiving ...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

We'll see what happens to the used car pricing with 2017's start coming off lease, right now prices aren't "sensible" given what new Bolts actually sell for. I wouldn't wait for off-lease deals. The residuals I've seen are way high. It depends on what the auction market thinks the Bolts a...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

FWIW, one has to read all the posts with some care. Here, on the other Bolt site and on other BEV sites, some contributors math and analytics require interpretation. One example is subtracting all the/ dealer allowances, credits and rebates to come up with a low purchase price; but then neglecting t...

Re: The Bolt E-U-V

As my kids are growing, it's hard to fit their crap in the trunk, and with the "baby" starting to get to the age that she's going to want to ride a bike, I can't imagine getting a dinosaur burner just to be able to fit a $12 Goodwill bicycle in it, plus I like to camp, which the Bolt with...

Re: The Bolt E-U-V

Meanwhile I couldn’t care less about AWD.. Now that is interesting. I used to visit Syracuse a couple of times per winter on business, I was always in deep snow and recall some residents saying with pride Syracuse averages more than 100" of snow. We get much less here in Spokane, but have enou...

Re: The Bolt E-U-V

The Bolt approaches today's possible level of perfection as is. We have no need of an EUV, but would trade tomorrow if the 2020 Bolt comes with AWD.

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

I'm in the same boat, I'm just starting to think about what I want to do with my bolt. I actually have much less than 10k/yr, I'm doing about 5k/yr, so I don't know how that might affect the residual? Is that number negotiable when you turn in the car? Doesn't the dealer want to sell it to you? Als...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

Don't believe everything one is told; that leases are not renegotiable. Our son is leasing an i3 and would buy it but the residual is too high. I asked the question on the BMW forum and got this reply. At the end of my 2014 i3's 30 month lease last August, my residual was $29K. I found comparable us...

Re: How Much I Paid for My Bolt

I Only complaint I had with the dealership is them tacking on Accessories at $995 after the deal was verbally made, accessories which were already on the car (tint, pinstripe and lifetime nitrogen)! I told them take the pinstripe and tint off or the deal is off. They hemmed and hawed, but eventuall...
