Re: Question: Ever been ICE'd?

I was ICE'd at a hotel. It took the hotel only half an hour to find the owner of the car, and have him move it. I guess he was at a meeting in the hotel at the time. However, I have the QuickChargePower extension cable, so I could have still charged, if I had parked somewhat illegally in the hotel's...

30 minute charge time now 45 minutes at EVgo

Just the other day I used EVgo to charge under my new Chevy plan for Free Fast Charging at EVgo, and found the 30 minute limitation has been upgraded to 45 minutes. This is an improvement that is quite welcome. I didn't know that there was an improved 45 minute limitation and that you had to change ...

30 minute charge limitation at EVgo, and handicap parking

I did some more long distance driving this summer, after last summer's splurge, and I still find the silly 30 minute limitation, and difficulty in reaching the full 80% of my battery capacity when I use EVgo's DC fast chargers. EVgo still seems to be locked into servicing low range LEAFS rather than...

Re: How many actual Bolt owners on this forum?

I have had my Bolt since July 1, 2017. 10000 miles and counting.... The best car I ever owned or drove.... I have done about 3000 miles long distance driving to prove to myself that its a great long distance car, as well as a wonderful everyday driver.

My Bolt review, after 8 months ownership.

I pretty much agree with all the positive comments in these reviews, while the negative comments cause some ambivalence in my mind. The winter range in Connecticut depends entirely on the amount of heater use, and pretty much nothing else. My car is garaged at about 48 F, and I keep it plugged in wh...

Re: Bolt keeps honking at me...

There are quite a few situations when you would get out of the car and leave the car on. For example to open your garage door before you drive in. Another situation is that there might be someone in the car for whom it is convenient to keep the heater/a/c going while the driver is running a quick er...

Re: Solar Home Battery Storage Systems

At current pricing, there is no way on earth that the Tesla Powerwall would ever pay back in power savings. Reliability? Maybe, but my house draws 40kWH/day, and it would take a lot of batteries to get thru an outage. I agree. We use about 43 kWh per day, and we just endured a 36 hour outage, which...

Re: Driving technique? How much does a lead foot cost?

How you drive certainly can affect efficiency, but so can heater use in the winter, and to a lesser extent a/c use in the summer. None of this is important, just like driving on eggs is not important in a gasoline car. Its just a matter of the range between charges, which is brilliantly predicted by...

OnStar navigation, Google maps, and Bad-Elf

my main problem was (and still is) the google maps voice interrupting the radio when the phone is connected by USB. the switch time is very long, and so the beginning of the announcements are cut off, and while you're coming up to a waypoint, the 2nd announcement is sometimes lost due to the switch...

Chevy Bolt long distance driving

I did about 3000 miles of long distance driving last summer in my Bolt EV, and I had no problems predicting range. In planning, I assumed a range of 238 miles, and planned charging stations with a margin of 30-60 miles of range left. Also, I planned a backup charging station at each stop. Two times ...
