Re: Bolt EV drive to Lake Arrowhead

The climb is definitely silent and the descent required no brakes at all, although I was being more cautious with my speeds since the fog was initially quite heavy. I was surprised at how easy and comfortable the longer distance drive was and watching the state-of-charge shows that even with consist...

Bolt EV drive to Lake Arrowhead

This past weekend, my wife and I took our dog up to Lake Arrowhead for a little mountain cabin getaway and to do a bit of hiking. We have access to a gas-powered car, but we decided to give the Bolt's longer range a thorough testing. Our destination was 100 miles of driving distance according to Goo...

Re: Range less than 200

Remember that air resistance increases exponentially so while it only seems like a few miles per hour, the faster you go, the far greater the air resistance gets. Add to that the fact that the Bolt's drag coefficient is pretty high, the higher the speed the less efficient the car becomes.

Re: Range less than 200

Take a look at the EV info screens. You should see some good efficiency information that will help you figure out why the car is showing a lower range. A couple things to look for: 1. Amount of Climate Control usage - I live a few miles from the beach and our weather is pretty mild. I generally rare...

Re: How Much I Paid for My Bolt

Numbers seem reasonable, though I suspect if you wanted to push back a bit, there is a little more room for negotiation.

Also, your price of $43,905 already includes the destination fee.

Comparing the Focus Focus Electric to the Chevy Bolt

The lease on our 2014 Ford Focus Electric recently ended and we replaced the car with the Chevy Bolt. I wanted to offer a few thoughts on how the two cars differed and how much EV technology has changed and improved in the last few years. http://www.eastwestbrothersgarage.com/2017/10/comparison-2014...

Re: My impressions from my first Bolt EV test drive

Speaking of three year differences, here are my thoughts comparing the Ford Focus Electric we previously owned to our new Chevy Bolt: http://www.eastwestbrothersgarage.com/2017/10/comparison-2014-ford-focus-electric-vs.html It is amazing how significant of a jump there can be in technology in just a...

Re: My impressions from my first Bolt EV test drive

That was part of my thinking too -- that in 3-years time, the number of choices for battery EVs would increase significantly and I would be able to get more of what I want instead of being tied to only a handful of choices.

Re: My impressions from my first Bolt EV test drive

A few thoughts on why I selected the Bolt EV over the Model 3, despite being a day one Model 3 reservation holder.

Re: My impressions from my first Bolt EV test drive

Good review. Mirrors my thoughts on the car too. The Bolt has grown on me, and I've been able to move past it's looks, but not so much with the seats & feel of the interior. Of course, those aren't deal breakers; just the nature of the beast in building a big battery EV on a low budget. I may s...
