Re: New to EVs, buying a used Bolt in a few months. Which accessories / equipment do I need?

DCFC availability is WAY better than it was 5+ years ago and improving significantly even in more remote locations. In my case (Norcal) there are several locations where I can DCFC for free. The California state government sponsors a program providing this benefit through local energy providers. The...

Re: New to EVs, buying a used Bolt in a few months. Which accessories / equipment do I need?

For me the DCFC capability is important in that it potentially eliminates having to compromise and use an ICE car (owned or rented) for longer trips, or when colder temperatures, lower efficiencies become an issue. For most of us the main point of driving an EV is to eliminate that 'carbon debt', ie...

Re: New to EVs, buying a used Bolt in a few months. Which accessories / equipment do I need?

A Bolt EV? -- What A Great Choice! The LT model with the 'comfort & convenience' package is everything I needed. The DCFC option is a must have. Make sure you get both (2) key fobs, owner's manual, wheel lock key (if it's a premium model) when you purchase. I would suggest the 25ft cord version ...

Re: Chevrolet announces update to all 2017-2019 Bolts with fast charging

Yeah .. I guess 75kW was wishful thinking on my part .. .. But hey, the dealer did the update for free! The confusing part is that the manual does state: "When using a DC charging station with at least 80 kW of available power .." while the car's apparently limited to ~ 56kW? I've r...

Re: Chevrolet announces update to all 2017-2019 Bolts with fast charging

I called my dealer today and he located the DCFC upgrade after I gave him the # on the GM Bulletin andrew1joe posted .. { TY sir! } https://allev.info/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/20-NA-053.png I was told: "It's covered under the car's warranty as long as you tell us you have a DCFC issue you wou...

Re: Cameras didn't turn off

Hi, My 2017 Bolt LT's screen occasionally gets stuck with the rear camera on. (the car still drives fine) I think it happens sometimes when I don't let the infotainment screen boot fully before 'shifting' it into gear. It's probably best not to rush that .. mine boots up pretty quickly. ;) Our EV's ...

Re: MyChevrolet App questions

But is the precondition feature only part of a paid tier of on star or is it part of the 10 years free that supposedly comes with a new 2020 (which I just purchased)? Precondition is all I care about and when I set up on star they made it sound like I had to have the paid tier to have that feature....

Hi Rosso, I had this problem early on .. Once you establish an account at the 'Chevrolet Owner Center' you should have full access to the app: https://custlogin.gm.com/gmb2cprod.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/v2.0/authorize?p=B2C_1A_SeamlessMigration_SignUpOrSignIn&scope=openid&response_mode=form_po...

Re: Using EVExtend on the Bolt EV for emergency 120V up to 1,500 watts

And there is a "trick" to keeping your Bolt turned on long term (so that it won't auto-shut-off after X minutes) - which is required to run the inverter and your appliances all the time without quickly draining the 12V battery. I am not going to search for the exact steps, but I have read...

Re: Chevrolet announces update to all 2017-2019 Bolts with fast charging

Have you ever had a Bolt EV charging experience greater than 44Kw? I understand the higher amp DCFCs are more prevalent up in NorCal. I haven't done that much DCFC but my personal best was 46kW at a newer EVGO unit near Sacramento, CA. -- I'm hoping this update improves my 2017 Bolt's DCFC performa...
