Re: The Bolt E-U-V

Good winter tires are more important than AWD. In fact 2WD with good winter tires handily beat AWD with all season tires.

Re: DCQC charging rates

No, it was about 35-37%. And it was a cool day, only around the mid 40's F or so.

Re: DCQC charging rates

I used an EVgo unit (eastbound on Mass Pike, near Exit 13) and only got around 22kW, which is pretty disappointing.

Re: Trailer Hitch

I am glad I could help, Ken. The hitch part was easy - even with the closed cutout that my brother and I used; which leaves the plastic intact along the edge of the bumper cover. The wiring would be easier if the harness was designed for the Bolt EV. I am going to be getting a 5x8 trailer soon, from...

Re: Turned on heater first time. Range dropped 20 miles

You can minimize this, by turning down the temperature, and by running it intermittently; only when you need it. The heated seats and steering wheel use a couple of hundred watts, at most. The heater uses a couple of thousand watts, at least. If the Bolt had a direct heating windshield defroster (li...

Re: I had a full aftermarket sound system installed. Major improvement!

I wonder how much the GM Premier + Bose system would benefit from an improved amplifier. That might be a relatively straightforward and low cost upgrade. Is anybody thinking about doing this? I am pretty sure the Bose amp has a heavy-handed DSP unit in it, so you would have to replace the drivers, ...

Re: Chevrolet invites press to autocross Bolt EV against the GTI

I would hope that any serious competitive comparison would put proper sticky tires on the Bolt EV.

Re: Trailer Hitch

I installed the same model hitch on our Bolt EV, on Saturday. I did it on my own (my brother was moving with his wife from her house, to his), so I didn't take any pictures. Look above for pictures of our installation on his Bolt. I also bought a Curt T-One trailer light connection harness, and ther...

Re: Regen question

I am interested in efficiency for two reasons: lower energy use (and therefore less expensive), and longer range. Driving instead of walking or biking is much more "convenient".

Doing what we can to avoid even worse climate change is also "convenient".

Re: Trailer Hitch

I found this, which is supposed to be a plugin solution for trailer light wiring: https://torkliftcentral.com/chevy-t-one-connector-56315 I will be getting it soon. I hope I can figure out (maybe with help from TorkLift?) about where it plugs in. The challenge may be where the brake lights plug in, ...
