So is the current more sane EVgo pricing also the result of CA pressure ? California PUC has no influence on the price structure. New owner of EVgo and market competition is causing all EV charging to be more competitive. These units will never be as cheap as home rates unless, like in Los Angeles,...

OTA Bolt EV software update through OnStar

When I complete my drive, I keep getting an OnStar request to update my Entertainment system software. I keep postponing it. I do not want to lose my ability to play MP4 movies on a flashstick. Reportedly, this feature was deleted when upgrades earlier this year were installed; upgrades that I refus...

Excerpt from https://electricrevs.com/2018/10/31/evgo-350-kw-charging-site-sparks-to-life-on-halloween-eve/ . (which is about the Baker site upgrading to 350 kW) : " EVgo had begun life in 2010 as a brand created by NRG Energy. NRG was a Texas electric utility that got caught up in California’...

Re: 12 Volt DC power inverter instead of a generator?

I had similar experience with my Chevy Volt and the EVExtend device, which they have now re-engineered for the BoltEV. Check out this thread

Re: Using EVExtend on the Bolt EV for emergency 120V up to 1,500 watts

Lastly, hooking an inverter up to the 12V battery so that the Bolt can be a 120V power source isn't just useful for home power outage emergencies. If you go car-camping, you can power a lot of portable appliances - like LED lights or a small TV or just portable device (radio, laptop) chargers - fro...

Re: Using EVExtend on the Bolt EV for emergency 120V up to 1,500 watts

I am assuming the OP has no commercial relationship (except as a satisfied customer) with the company in question (based on previous posting history). That's always a good thing to point out when mentioning a product on a forum. I am assuming that the Moderator has no commercial relationship (excep...

Using EVExtend on the Bolt EV for emergency 120V up to 1,500 watts

EVExtend.com is finally taking pre-orders on its product for the Bolt EV ( https://www.evextend.com/Chevrolet-Bolt-Inverter-Kit.php ) This unit allows for fused, easy Anderson Powerpole connection to a 1,000-1,500 watt inverter for days of emergency power. I had one on their units in my Chevy Volt a...

Re: Test drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas

Abe: I second BoltyMcBoltface’s advice. Drive inthe right lane. Trucks have a speed limit onthe I-15 in California of 55 but consistently drive at 60 MPH. Drive at a safe distance behind a Semi . Use Cruise Control and drive in “L” to get automatic regeneration when it is activated. If the Semi turn...

Re: Turn off auto door unlock?

In the Volt, to keep it “hot” we used to put a thick rubber band around the shifter so it would constantly “push” the shifter button and that kept it on indefinitely.

Re: Turn off auto door unlock?

My concern has nothing to do with charging the phone, and everything to do with unintentionally leaving the car on. If you leave an ICEV running, it simply eventually runs out of gas. But the doors remain locked. If you leave the Bolt running, it eventually shuts itself off to prevent you from usin...
