Re: Request Battery Heating/conditioning To accelerate fast charge in cold climate

up north , USA & Canada , we cant get fast charge to reach 50kw without 30+minutes battery heating thus take more time and cost $ more : Any member here willing to suggest a software modification to GM so we can get a conditioning button ? I'm not sure this is going to save you any money. Won't...

Re: Driving in "L" when it is slippery

I use "L" all the time, slippery conditions or not. We've just gone through a snowfall where over the course of a week or so my back lane started with crisp, fresh snow and then degraded to compacted snow and then ice. Every day I depart down the lane I test my traction because it's always...

Most campgrounds would be able to give you a 240V/30A or 240V/50A hookup, the latter of which will charge the car at full L2 speed. That's exactly why I carry a TeslaTap with a Tesla UMC and several AC cords for it.

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

There's more than just raw specs and price to consider, though. It sounds like the Kona & Niro might have availability issues (which is also true of the Bolt in some markets), and even the new Leaf has a questionable reputation in terms of it's battery longevity. The market is still too thinly ...

Kona & Niro are the 2 coming with that range and price. LEAF Plus will have 226 and likely also to be $37,495 There's more than just raw specs and price to consider, though. It sounds like the Kona & Niro might have availability issues (which is also true of the Bolt in some markets), and e...

Re: Audi E-Tron road test in Motor Trend

What is difficult to understand is the Audi E-Tron has one-pedal capability, but they choose to downplay that as if it were a liability. You can dial in low and high regen settings if you wish; the latter allows the E-Tron to be driven with one pedal like a Tesla or a Jaguar I-Pace in similar modes...

Re: Drive range questions

The motor is 6 phase, and is computer controlled. The computer will energize phases, one at a time, to make the car move. If the computer energizes 1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6,... the car goes forwards. If the computer energizes 1,6,5,4,3,2,1,6,5,4,3,2,1,... the car goes backwards. Exactly. There are n...

Re: Audi E-Tron road test in Motor Trend

The real clue is where he flacks for Audi Product Development Engineer Andrew Carter Balkcom, quoting him as saying, "One-pedal mode was a crutch for early BEVs to keep you from using the hydraulic brakes." This is a clear indication that he's either (a) completely clueless about why one-...

Re: Anyone with experience using the TeslaTap?

I bought a Tesla Tap 11 months ago. It's been available alongside the JDapter for as long as I remember. I haven't used it a whole lot but it always worked just fine when I did. I also bought a Tesla Gen 2 UMC (Universal Mobile Charger) and four different AC plugs that I keep in the car in case I ne...

Re: Help me understand how regen works

How is the amount of regen (and "negative" torque) controlled so that it's different for each mode. I'm certainly not thoroughly knowledgeable on this, but it's essentially the same principle that feeds varying amounts of power FROM the battery depending on how far you depress the acceler...
