Re: little 12v battery under hood

One suggestion I found for keeping your 12 volt battery healthy is this - once a month fully charge your 12 volt battery over night. I'm pretty skeptical that this would be necessary if your battery is in good condition and you drive your Bolt a reasonable distance on a regular basis. I've never do...

Re: Problem: Full charge capacity dropping

@SeanNelson's method of charging to full and driving to empty is a good first pass method to get a rough estimate of capacity (though I'm not clear how the infotainment system accounts for regen, but that should only be a small amount of energy). If you go down a long hill you'll see that the "...

Re: little 12v battery under hood

Most everything in the car works off the 12V battery....lights, heat, radio, wipers, A/C, computer, etc. To be clear, 12V power comes from the high voltage battery via an inverter when the car is turned on. The 12V battery is only there to provide the power needed for baseline functions when the ca...

Re: little 12v battery under hood

It powers the computer systems and the infotainment devices.... ...while the car is turned off. When the car is turned on that power comes from the main 60 kWh battery. But the computers still need to run when the car is turned off to provide things like Internet connectivity (i.e., remote fob comm...

Re: reverse image not full size on infotainment screen

It's normal on my 2017 Premiere... Thanks. Do you have the overhead view option? If not then I guess it's just normal. It just seems odd that it wouldn't take the whole screen. Yes, the overhead view is shown on the left side of the screen and the rear or front view on the left in something like a ...

Re: Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

Sean I disagree somewhat. I think *everybody* (ICE or EV) should have a Li_Ion "jump starter" in the trunk. In an electric, if you leave it connected you can just drive home and plug in (a 12V trickle charger) - but it allows you to drive home. Oh, I totally agree and I have one for my Bo...

Re: Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

As it stands, even if I'm not at risk of loss of control at speed, I am at risk of having an inoperative car whenever I park it and leave it unplugged, which means that I risk significant inconvenience if I use the car in a way that even approximates normal use. Sure, but for example if you can get...

Re: Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

...I told the man at the service desk that I was concerned about a safety issue, i.e., that, if the 12V battery went dead when I was driving, would it be dangerous? Would I lose brake function? Would the brakes lock up? The 12V battery is there to get the car "booted up" when it's turned ...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

... I take issue with the lack of built in nav too. First, it was promised to us. Second, there are plenty of trips I take into the mountains where there is no cell service and it can be easy to get lost. With Google Maps it's pretty easy to download the mapping data for a region before you go out ...
