Re: Help me understand how regen works

According to my limited understanding, when you lift your foot off of the accelerator, the electric motor goes into generator mode (I assume there is some software that controls this?) and starts generating electricity, which goes back to the battery. This works because the rotor (magnet) is being ...

Re: Charge: As soon as possible, or as late as possible?

Lithium titanate also has much lower energy density than the LG Chem NMC chemistry that GM uses in the Bolt. Higher power density though.

Re: Delayed charging just defaults to next day

Hmmm, not one response. Maybe because I used incorrect terminology. I'm talking about the "Departure" charging mode. I set a time and day for departure mode charging using the "Edit Planned Departure" window. It uses the time I input, but it ignores the day I selected and just de...

Delayed charging just defaults to next day

When I try to select any day other than the next day for delayed charging it just sets to the next day and ignores my choice. How do you get it to set delayed charging for other days?

Re: Question: Ever been ICE'd?

Yes I have. I just recently purchased a Bolt, but I've been driving a converted EV for 9 years now (still am). The usual reason I have been ICE'd is the EVSE is seldom used (especially 6-9 years ago) so people figure they can park there. I just go inside the establishment and ask politely if they ca...

Re: Ridiculous Process to Replace Key Fob

I'll answer my question since no one else did. Yes, you do need two programmed keys unless you use the alternate procedure described in the manual which reprograms the new key plus an existing already programmed key. I used the latter. The new key was $80.00 from an on line supplier, plus another $2...

Re: Ridiculous Process to Replace Key Fob

So do you need two programmed key fobs to program another or just one? Trying to decide whether to try just one or do the other, longer, procedure that requires no programmed key. Sure missing the days of going to Home Depot and having a spare key cut for $5.00.

Re: Level 2 charger

I usually used a 50A site, NEMA 14-50, but a few times those were all taken so I used a 30A site, and it was 240 VAC. Maybe not common, dunno. Only used one at one RV park.

Re: Level 2 charger

The 30A outlets I used to charge at RV parks 5-9 years ago in my converted car were 240V, verified by my energy meter which reads out AC voltage, current, power, and accumulated energy. I don't know much about RVs themselves.

Re: Did your dealership try to sell an extended warranty?

They pushed it pretty hard, "all those electronics" (yeah, and they are designed to be very reliable in cars). Hell, I converted a car to electric 9 years ago and still drive it regularly with no problems. I expect the manufacturers can do better, and GM has a good record with the Volt. Th...
