Re: How common is it to charge 300 miles?

I don't know how common it is, but I've seen many pictures on other Bolt forums of exactly what you describe. In my experience, it depends on outside temperature (warm is better), your driving style (slower is better) and how much you use heat or A/C (none is better). I've gotten 5.1-5.2 miles/kWh f...

Re: San Gabriel Valley to Las Vegas by Bolt EV

Alex67Pasadena wrote:* cruising on the slow lane 95% of the time (I'm usually the one who zooms pass other vehicles doing 80-90 mph with a non-ev car. )

So how fast did you drive in the slow lane? Any comments on what your mi/kWh were ?

Re: Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

Can anyone explain what it is about an EV that makes a traditional SLI (starting, lighting, ignition) lead acid battery unsuitable? These types are built for power (ICE starting) and not so much for energy, so reserve capacity and ability to sustain 'hotel loads' (quiescent current drains) is limit...

Re: So, is my Chevy Bolt really an Opel product?

GM has sold "equivalent" cars in Europe for many years under the Opel brand. This is nothing new.

Re: little 12v battery under hood

Most everything in the car works off the 12V battery....lights, heat, radio, wipers, A/C, computer, etc. Of course the drive motor works off the main battery. There's a lot of discussion about how to check the 12V battery, but it seems that it doesn't give warning when it dies. And when it dies, you...

Re: Time for a level 2 charger. Suggestions?

Whoa that is excellent news. So I wouldn't have to invest in an expensive home EV charger? If I understand you correctly, All I would need is to install a NEMA 6-50 outlet in my garage connected to a 40 Amp breaker and then just get this adaptor for my existing charging cord? Where can I get one of...

Re: Time for a level 2 charger. Suggestions?

You'll get a lot of recommendations on brand, so I'll let others chime in (or you can search this and other forums). One of the important things to decide is the amps of the "charger" (technically an EVSE...the charger is in the car). The Bolt will take a max of 32 amps at 240 Volts. Anyth...

Re: Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

There's a saying...misery loves company. You're not alone in this. Other EV brands have the same issue. Of course this doesn't help solve the problem. 12V batteries go dead, even in ICE cars. In ICE cars you usually get slow cranking before it dies, which is somewhat of a warning. I agree there shou...

Re: Bricked

I checked these forums are read a number of postings regarding the 12v low voltage system. Sure enough, I found the 12v battery to be completely dead. Silly me, thinking an electric car would NOT be vulnerable to a dead ICE car battery. This is certainly a design fault or oversight - there is just ...
