Re: Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

Sean I disagree somewhat. I think *everybody* (ICE or EV) should have a Li_Ion "jump starter" in the trunk. In an electric, if you leave it connected you can just drive home and plug in (a 12V trickle charger) - but it allows you to drive home.

Re: Bricked

I read a *very long* post by a GM-certified tech (probably copy-pasted from the service manual) a while back that described the behavior for keeping the 12V battery charged. Basically, if plugged in to an EVSE, the voltage of the 12V battery is checked fairly often (?12 hours?). If not plugged in, i...

Re: WiFi Switch in Settings/WiFi

Well, yeah, but a microwave oven is basically a faraday cage (designed to stop electromagnetic signals from escaping) - that's why the 'window' on the door looks like a screen door. Also why if you want privacy, and are anal about it (like me) when you want a totally, completely private conversation...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

Oops, I just contributed to the "off topic" posts. If people want to talk about Nav, I'll split the posts out into their own topic. (Although this is a pretty generic thread that has been wrapping new topics about, if in 2 months people want to read about Nav, they aren't going to think to...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

I have little sympathy for those crying for nav. A little because, I think the car vendors charge way too much, both original price and the 'updates' for maps. A little because I have no problem finding an address, or planning a trip (but then, I don't drive for a living, so someone who does Uber or...

Re: DCQC charging rates

The best thing to do to increase charge rate on cold days is to plug it in (even at only 120V). That will tell the car to heat the battery. Plugging it in 30 or 60 minutes before leaving will tremendously increase the fast charging rate if the temps are below 40. Driving for 15 miles isn't going to ...

Re: Time for a level 2 charger. Suggestions?

If you go to google.com and type : EVSE recommend site:www.mychevybolt.com you will get a list of threads where people have asked for EVSE recommendations over the years, on this site . (there are quite a few) Also, the default OEM EVSE that came with the car is capable of 240V operation. If you mak...
