Re: Battery Conditioning Summer

You should be able to tell if it is working if you DO NOT initially plug in the car when parking, but several hours later (while still hot) plugging in and waiting to hear the A/C compressor start up to cool the battery.

for all members - PLEASE set your 'location' !!

Folks - Please set your location in your profile settings. It doesn't have to be precise (mine is 'SF Bay Area') - you could simply list the US state or province and country if you don't want to list the exact city (e.g. : BC, Canada; Canton Lucerne, Switzerland; Baveria, Germany; Greater NYC area; ...

Re: Question: Ever been ICE'd?

ChargePoint rarely owns the stations. They sell and install charging stations, and put in whatever the client buys (is willing to pay for) and the cost of the electricity at the station is set by the owner, not by ChargePoint. Asking ChargePoint to install higher-power DCFCs is like asking Time, Inc...

Re: On the state of the affordable long-range electric car

{...} So one of my vehicles is a used (I buy only used vehicles) 2002 Class C motorhome. It allows me to really stretch out when I take a road trip, even sleep in the thing. Plus I can tow the Bolt EV behind me and use it for my local driving when I reach my destination. {...} Just a note on towing...

Re: No deals right now?

Did the mailing say whether the promo was from the dealership, or from GM? Either way, it might be interesting to contact them via email and see what lease deal he can negotiate. (Since he lives in the L.A. area, a drive to Dublin Chevrolet must be called "road trip!!") But, it is entirely...

Re: Do not use EVgo fast chargers. No, seriously. Just don't.

EvGo in San Luis Obispo (CA) (Marigold Center) allows to restart after 45 minutes by remote with the app. EvGo at Gilroy (CA) Premium Outlets does not have a 45 minute limit, but one unit was only putting out 50 amps (16 kw) and the other one 100 amps (32 kw). Is that their *rated* output, or were ...

Re: No deals right now?

I second the web site http://ev-vin.blogspot.com/ . It is generally updated weekly. They list various details, including *true* monthly price (not what you pay each month, but what the total of the payments, plus down payment + drive-off fee, etc divided by the # of months on the lease). That allows...

Re: Extending battery life

My approach has been : - do not fully charge unless it is needed (which isn't often in a Bolt, unless you have a 200+ mile commute) ; I would charge to about 80% (either manually stopping the charge, OR setting the timer to start charge so that it would be about 70% when I got up). It wasn't that di...

Re: How to get dead Bolt into neutral for tow?

I have a number of Li-Ion 'external power bricks' to recharge my cell phone (one small & light that is also a LED flashlight and fits in the pocket; one that is 4000 mAh, and the size of a deck of cards; one that is 8000 mAh). I try to *never* charge them to full (well, maybe once or twice a yea...

Re: Misadventures at Anaheim Stadium

Bottom line - There's no need to have a giant lump of acid dipped toxic heavy metals doing a job better suited to a modest capacitor and the pre-existing DC-DC converter The 12V battery and associated equipment is an extra cost, so I have to assume that there's a good reason that all electric cars ...
