Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

Buy a NEW 2019 Bolt EV for $26K less tax incentives!?! What am I missing here? The $26k might be a unicorn, but I've seen a claim somewhere that some dealer in CA was offering that. I can't find it now, but did find this that showed a dealer offering $29k for a new one, including one that appears t...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

They are going to have to discount the residuals a lot more than $3k - $7k to get me to buy a used Bolt. New ones are now widely advertised at $14k off MSRP before federal tax credit so roughly $22k with a few options after current tax credit. At that price I think it is pretty competitive with some...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY!! I skipped over the salesman and went straight to F & I and talked to the dude. I'll have ended up paying $17,000 in "rent" , oh plus the $2500 I put down, and my residual is $25K, which adds up to MSRP, like magic! So where the fuck did my $7500 federa...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

I'm in the same boat, I'm just starting to think about what I want to do with my bolt. I actually have much less than 10k/yr, I'm doing about 5k/yr, so I don't know how that might affect the residual? Is that number negotiable when you turn in the car? Doesn't the dealer want to sell it to you? Als...

Re: So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

Why buy at lease end (my residual is $25k+) when you can buy a brand new one for under $30k and get the full tax credit right now?

I'm looking at buying one right now even though my lease isn't up for a year. Under $20k with California rebate and it will keep me from going over my 45k lease mileage

Re: miles due to regeneration

To add to Michael's point...preserving momentum is the key to efficient driving for any vehicle. Braking (regenerative or otherwise) kills momentum. Please post your source about regenerative braking recovering 80% of kinetic energy back into the battery. I don't know what the exact number is, but ...

Re: miles due to regeneration

Regenerative braking will ALWAYS regain LESS energy than you used getting the car up to speed. So, regen only can reduce the energy you use, so your range increases. Coasting can decrease the energy you use even MORE than regen can - because coasting loses less energy. Here's what I do: I coast whe...

If the dealer is pushing it, it isn't worth it.
