Re: Introducing EV-MODS Aftermarket Parts for Bolt EV

Thanks Andy for the correction - my typo. I'm not so interested in max speed or hard braking but for mostly urban road use it sounds like the wider tires with slightly lower profiles are the way to go. Wider wheels are presumably a necessity - correct?

Re: Racing my Bolt on TV & Parts Development

How many miles/how long have you used the 245/45R17 Falken Azenis 615k+ Ultra High Performance Tires? The standard size is 245/50R17 so I guess there's a minor change in overall diameter (and speedo/odometer accuracy - ??) IMO, lack of AWD is a deficiency on the Bolt, so a better performance tire is...

Re: Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

Can anyone explain what it is about an EV that makes a traditional SLI (starting, lighting, ignition) lead acid battery unsuitable? These types are built for power (ICE starting) and not so much for energy, so reserve capacity and ability to sustain 'hotel loads' (quiescent current drains) is limite...

Re: Chemical rust converters

You cannot stop rust as long as there is moisture/damp/water and any amount of oxygen present, and if the piece of steel/iron is in contact with a more corrosion resistant metal that will make it even worse. The best you can hope for is to slow the process down. Remember iron/steel is obtained from ...

So if they flashed like on a F1 car while stationary at an intersection, it can't hurt

Re: Safety issues

I would think that "big, red lights on the back of the vehicle as a "WAKE UP MORON - I AM STOPPED" sign." can only help.

Why do you claim it is another myth?

And having to move your foot to the brake pedal when "one-footing" is certainly a pain.

Safety issues

First, is it true some audible warning feature when in reverse will be mandatory on all EV's made this year? If so, can it be retro-fitted to a 2017 Bolt? Second, if you come to a stop using regen only are the brake lights only on during deceleration? Would be nice if they stayed on, or better flash...

"Free" heat in cabin

Apologies if this has been covered before, but is it true there is a way to bleed off the small amount of heat from the battery/electronics into the cabin without using the resistive heater? Is it enough to keep the screen free of condensation on the inside when it's about 40-50F ambient?

Re: 2017 Bolt 8 vs 12 amp charge

..........as it keeps the battery less-cold...........

Not always good, to a degree (no pun intended) charged batteries will store better 'cold' although that has to be weighed against sluggish performance when you want to actually use and discharge them.

Re: "Auto" HVAC questions

Seems those expensive, failure-prone, rattling, leaking, headroom-stealing abortions must be quite popular after all, or all those car makers could be wrong. To get back to the subject of the topic, ventilation is necessary and if there is no 'automatic' ram airflow effect then something else will b...
