Re: EVgo DC FC pricing changes coming Feb 12, 2019

Hope it's ok to create a new thread about this. Some folks got notification about this. Not me. New prices at https://www.evgo.com/pricing2019/. I did get the notice. My monthly plan cost dropped from $9.99 to $7.99 and my charging cost per minute went up from $0.15 to $0.26. Plus, there is now a l...

Re: Does anyone have any details for the pending Electrify America DCFC being constructed in Firebaugh, CA?

...I am really interested in you experience at the Frazer Park Flying J and ShorePower. I have always wanted to take a shot at driving to the LA area but I just was not comfortable with being able to charge at the Frazer Park Flying J. And, there was no charging available South of Bakersfield until...

Re: Does anyone have any details for the pending Electrify America DCFC being constructed in Firebaugh, CA?

That is really interesting and helpful information. I was an early subscriber to EVGo when the monthly fee was $15 and not applicable; but offered enough savings on the per minute charge that if I only did two 30 minute charges per month, the savings exceeded $15. With their newer plan, of course I...

Re: Does anyone have any details for the pending Electrify America DCFC being constructed in Firebaugh, CA?

... EA is much more expensive than EVgo. Yesterday I charged my Spark EV at my favorite EVgo station. 16 minutes of charging time cost me $2.40 and that $2.40 was deducted from my $10.00 per month plan charge. 16 minutes charging at an EA station would have cost me $6.60 (16 minutes at $.35 per min...

Re: Does anyone have any details for the pending Electrify America DCFC being constructed in Firebaugh, CA?

2) I don't want govt oversight of EVGo or Electrify America - what I wanted was for the money to be put in a pool that any company ( all companies) could use to build a DCFC infrastructure - so long as it followed certain rules (for example, off the top of my head: at least 2 units per site, min kW...

Re: Extending battery life

My approach has been : - do not fully charge unless it is needed (which isn't often in a Bolt, unless you have a 200+ mile commute) ; I would charge to about 80% (either manually stopping the charge, OR setting the timer to start charge so that it would be about 70% when I got up). It wasn't that d...

Re: Charge: As soon as possible, or as late as possible?

Update: Using L1 EVSE charging at 120 VAC and 8 amps, it takes 4.5 hours for my 2014 Spark EV to charge from 80% SOC to 100% SOC. Using L2 EVSE charging at 240 VAC and 16 amps, it takes 1.5 hours for my 2016 Spark EV to charge from 80% SOC to 100% SOC. At the end of charging, the GOM on my 2014 Spa...

Re: Charge: As soon as possible, or as late as possible?

The Chevy Spark EV and the Chevy Bolt EV both have a charging option called "Programmed Departure Time". This option allows one to specify the departure time at which the car will be fully charged. So, with a little calculation work, a driver can set the programmed departure time at a tim...

Re: Charge: As soon as possible, or as late as possible?

There may be something to this if you consider that every electronic device powered by a lithium battery is usually only partially charged [ low SOC] when it is first purchased. Is that done to prolong the battery life between the time of manufacture and the time of purchase? I wonder, given we did...

Re: Charge: As soon as possible, or as late as possible?

That was how I read it too. Sounds like a lot of work, but they are claiming double the battery life over "naive" charging. I don't know under what conditions, though. There may be something to this if you consider that every electronic device powered by a lithium battery is usually only ...
