Re: Goodbye to my Beloved Bolt

Congrats on the upgrade! The biggest complaint I have with the Bolt is the DCQC speed. How fast is the eTron? 150kW or so? Have you hit up an EA station with it yet? How does the experience compare with the Bolt? Is it noticeably better, or just not as big of a deal as I might hope? Again, congrats ...

Re: Should I feel confident buying a used high-mileage Bolt?

No, if the high miles came via a family driving Uber/Lyfft/urban delivery 24/7. All the suspension, brakes, steering, doors, windows, hatch, seats, take a pounding. Why do you say that? I just purchased a new 2019 Bolt EV to replace my leased 2017 and I expect to pay off the loan in 18 months with ...

Re: Does Bolt EV have a battery buffer like in the Volt?

I'm sure the Bolt has some kind of buffer, at least at the low end. Any lithium battery will be severely damaged when fully discharged - that's not restricted to Tesla. That said, I can't imagine it has anywhere near the percentage buffer of a Volt. The Volt's battery system was perhaps the most con...

Re: Charging history data missing

Mine isn't updating either. I don't pay for OnStar, but it didn't used to matter. Maybe it still doesn't? Can someone who pays for OnStar report on whether your data is updated regularly?

Re: When I use paddle brake on steering wheel, does brake light come on?

Yes. It is based on how quickly you decelerate, though. If, for example, you press the paddle, but keep your foot on the accelerator to maintain speed, your lights will not come on. Go for a drive at night and try it. You should see the red glow reflection in the rear view mirror. (unless you have t...

Re: Off grid charging the Bolt

FWIW, a similar problem and solution was discovered by the Leaf community as well. I think this will be true of most EVs.

Re: Trailer Hitch

Thanks for the link. That's not a big deal if I ever wanted to reverse it. Truth is, having a small 5" x 3.5" hole in the back bumper probably wouldn't bother me once it's there. It's just that initial cut. Funny you mention the VW bus. My wife and I are eyeing that to replace her '15 CMax...

Re: Trailer Hitch

I own my car, and hope to keep it for another 8-10 years. I'm just nervous about cutting the plastic. I don't think there is a way around it, and it sounds like a minor operation, so I really just should man up and do it. It's my "bravery test" for those of you who remember Bob Ross. https...
