Re: The January Numbers are in.

It will be very interesting to see how many absolutely base versions of the model 3 ($35,000) ship before Dec 2018. Heck, I wouldn't mind a model 3 myself - for 35,000 (minus 7,500 U.S. federal, minus 2500 Calif). The supercharger network is worth it (I don't mind paying for electricity - I just wa...

Re: I'm shopping for an EV. What's next?

That is the idea. It's why I'm asking for advice from the forum to help me choose. I recognize that there are members on this board with a lot more experience with EV's than I have who can help me. Based on various posts, I think you should be looking for.... A B250e :o  Seriously, it seems li...

Re: From a Leaf to a Bolt: Early Returns

I still get surprised by what some find imprtant, and what they don't care as much about when selecting a vehicle (or many things, actually). The OEVA had a Showcase at the Portland Auto Show last week where we were there to talk about EV's. We explain the pro's and cons, and had ~ 14 different BEV'...

Re: From a Leaf to a Bolt: Early Returns

There's a fine line between "lightness" and "cheap". Methinks GM added less of the former, and more of the latter into the car. The plastic interior, including the seats really are just OK. I haven't seen the new Leaf in person, but from photos and video reviews, the Nissan's in...

Re: Federal EV Tax Credit

I purchased my Bolt in the 2017 tax year. I was not sure due to the unknowns at the time of the new tax laws (early versions eliminated the EV Tax Credit) that would be in place for 2018 if I was doing the right thing or not. I bought because they had the model with the options I wanted available a...

Re: I'm shopping for an EV. What's next?

Used Bolt LT's are all over cars.com with an asking price of $27-28K. Most are likely from the demo fleet that did the auto show and test drive tour near the release of the Bolt. $25K is probably not out of the question with a little patience. Might be lacking in the "reasonably upscale with a ...

Re: Dan Neil on the Prius Prime

Since the PIP gets 55-60MPG after the EV charge is depleted,.. The PIP gets 50 mpg after the charge is depleted (EPA ratings). The Prime is rated higher at 52. Like always, YMMV and different drivers will see different results, but the Prime should do slightly better than the old PIP (and has ~4 ti...

Re: Dan Neil on the Prius Prime

You seem to be implying that the Prime doesn't do as well as the PIP on gas when the EV charge is depleted. Is that the case? The PIP was rated at 50 mpg on gas (2012-2015). On electric (all 6 miles) it was 95 MPGe. The Prime is rated 54 mpg on gas and 133 MPGe on electric (25 miles). If you were r...

Re: Traction battery disconnect?

A quick search got me this site: https://www.gmstc.com/FirstResponder.aspx The Bolt is one of the vehicles covered: https://www.gmstc.com/WebTreeDocuments/download.asp?lID=9&nID=800 There is also a disconnect under the rear seat, but likely not as useful for first responders as the under hood di...

Re: 2018 Honda Clarity : BEV, PHEV, and fuel cell

If anybody can point me at data/an article that shows the pollution levels emitted by the GASOLINE portion of hybrid vehicles (or even better - PHEVs), I'd appreciate it. Especially if there were comparisons to vehicles like a standard Corolla or Civic or Ford Focus or ... Like this? https://photos...
