Re: Any Technical problems with using Tesla Supercharters?

The problem is not with the adapter/conversion/handshaking, it's with enabling access. Tesla at one point invited other manufacturers to "buy in" to the Supercharger network to help pay for it. At this point the cost for a manufacturer to join would likely be millions of dollars. The book ...

Re: Costs of installing Level 2 charger in St. Paul, MN

Buy this for $300: https://shop.tesla.com/us/en/product/vehicle-accessories/model-s_x_3-mobile-connector-bundle.html?sku=1139373-00-A WRONG! That's NOT going to work, because it does not have a J-1772 plug necessary to plug it in to a Bolt. It is an excellent EVSE at a great price, but to use it fo...

Re: Costs of installing Level 2 charger in St. Paul, MN

I have only been getting 1.8 miles/hour on my 120 volt outlet in my detached garage. Are you charging at the the default 8A rate? Or can you use 12A? If there is nothing else plugged into the ame circuit, you can adjust this in the Bolt setup screens. I will have to get a Level 2 charging station i...

Re: Indoor parking vs ourdoor

Parking it outside is perfectly fine. You don't line in an extreme climate (and as long as you keep your SOC above about 30% battery conditioning would take place anyway). Probably 90% of people park their cars outdoors while at work.

Re: "Full" battery levels dropping daily

IMHO the pigtail adapter that's been suggested by some isn't really an answer to the concern you're raising because someone could just as easily plug the wrong thing into that. The most foolproof way to avoid misuse is to change the plug on the EVSE. But as I've mentioned before, that defeats the t...

But yeah, common sense is certainly advised when deciding what to do.

If it's permanently plugged in, hardwire it.

I keep seeing this come up and it is not a good idea. Under any circumstances. Ever. Just don't.

Re: New tech battery for our 2017 bolts in the future?

All of which will depend on GM to use the same form factor and interface as the present pack in the future but fitted with better batteries. I like to keep my vehicles as long as possible so it is going to be interesting to see if GM will use the modular Battery to full advantage and in 8 years be ...

Menu settings are 8 or 12 amps. A L1 EVSE may advertise more than that, but the Bolt won't utilize it.

Re: Got call from GM dealership for oil change

Would have been fun to schedule it and bring the Bolt in to see what happened.

Would have gotten really fun if they claimed to have performed the work and billed you for it.......
