Re: Air Conditioner Test Drive at 98F

That's great to hear. My 238-mile EV might turn out to be a 280-290 mile EV (as my i-MiEV has accustomed me to conservative driving on longer stretches). In regards to the A/C, the i-MiEV has a manual temperature dial. Fan only operation is indicated by a green dot position between heat and cool. Th...

Re: Speed vs Efficiency with respect to total travel time

The rest of the trip was around 500-600 miles per day with a rushed but still legal pace, which given functioning infrastructure, could easily be done in the Bolt. It could've been done today with Tesla's Superchargers. Nice hypothetical about Tesla opening up their network of Superchargers to the ...

Re: Speed vs Efficiency with respect to total travel time

Isn't this whole 1,000 mile thing hypothetical? Anyway, modern EVs have still only been on the market for 6 years (excluding the limited production Tesla Roadster). The fact that they are so competitive with technology that's had a solid 100+ years of work and innovation is astounding. On our cross-...

Re: Speed vs Efficiency with respect to total travel time

My math shows: At 45 mph 1000 miles will take 22.2 hours and you will need (3) x 90 minute 50 kw charger cycles. At 65 mph 1000 miles will take 15.4 hours and you will need (4.5) x 90 minute 50 kw charger cycles. At 75 mph 1000 miles will take 13.3 hours and you wi...

Re: Using the 120V included charger

I haven't yet charged my Bolt, but my i-MiEVs both came with 8 amp cords. Painfully slow, even with the small battery. I had one cord upgraded to do 12 amps and either 120 or 240 volt charging. What a difference! 12 amps, even at 120 volts, charges considerably faster, almost 2x faster on the i-MiEV...

Re: Another Bolt?

It might be worth taking a look at the used EV market. Used LEAFs can be had for around $10,000 if the range works for you. You might also find a lease on a current gen LEAF with the 30 kWh battery if you need a true 100-mile EV.

Pittsburgh Area Owners

Hi, all. I've been active on the i-MiEV forum for several years and own two i-MiEVs. I just picked up a new Bolt last night. Just curious if anyone else out there is located in the Pittsburgh area (pretty much the whole SW PA corner). I know it's still early, as these just landed a week or two ago, ...
