Re: Our Bolt is Back or How a 12-Volt Battery Can Kill an Electric Car

The Leaf is also supposed to maintain the 12 volt battery automatically, and sometimes it actually does. It definitely does not do so, however, if the car is plugged in but not charging. Leaf side story.. I remember being a bit nervous when I was reading the stories of the 12v issues with the Leaf,...

Re: Our Bolt is Back or How a 12-Volt Battery Can Kill an Electric Car

Finally, I asked our salesman to intervene and that worked. The service department called and asked, "Why is the car here?" This was exasperating and not a good omen for ownership of a new Chevy. There was a digital trail on this car from the time I called OnStar. Hopefully, this just say...

Re: MyChevrolet app notifications not working

Glad that you are making progress! In my experience you only get the "unplugged" notification if charge is interrupted. IE if you get the txt that it has "completed charging" and then you unplug it, no second text. Well, no "completed charging" message this morning. My...

Re: MyChevrolet app notifications not working

And follow up.. Much better.. If I unplug the EVSE from the wall, I get an e-mail or text!!! I didn't try unplugging the J1772 first, as I lock it in general and the alarm is set. That said, I will try that later. As for charging notifications when it is done at home, we'll see tomorrow. If I get on...

Re: How doI know if I can use this outlet?

I'm glad non of those are around here. Although 50kW isn't exactly blazing either. I actually think those 25kW chargers are fine for destinations like restaurants and/or shopping centers. They are less expensive and easier to install (some don't require 3 phase electric) for businesses. I just don'...

Re: MyChevrolet app notifications not working

Well, I finally got a call from OnStar today (or voice mail, as I was in a meeting). 9 days after my call.. Hmmm... Of course, today I don't have my Bolt at work, so I couldn't do any meaningful testing/callbacks. He said they it appeared to be all fixed and I can call them if there are still issues...

Re: How doI know if I can use this outlet?

Is this a fact? Would I not be able to utilize the full 10kw @ 40 amps off the Juicebox? Does anyone here actually have a 10 amp Juicebox that can confirm this 7.8 kw limit? It's the limit of the charger built into the Bolt (that's why the external unit is called an EVSE and not a charger; the char...

Re: How doI know if I can use this outlet?

Welcome!!! Lots to learn, but it's not as complicated as it seems (or as I am likely to make it sound.. sorry ;-) I know that I can use a CSS adaptor but does this mean I can only use a CSS? Can I get adaptors for other types? Quick baseline. There are 3 types of charging and 2 types of plugs you ca...

Re: 120 volt charge cord included?

That stock cord is a 16 gauge cord and that's really too small to charge at 12 amps (either 120v or 240v - it's the amps that matter). Not an electrician, but I thought 16 gauge copper was good for 13 amps and below? Not much overhead, but seems within accepted range. (Otherwise I don't think GM wo...
