Hello all

I was rear ended at a stop light while in my Honda FIT EV. Honda will now take my car away. I am now looking at purchasing the Chevy Bolt. One item I would really like to have is body side moldings to protect the doors from people in neighboring parking spaces. I checked Google and didn't see anything so I assume this isn't available.

I purchased these for my Prius back in 2010 and it was the best investment I made.

Anyway, If anyone is aware of a place to get after market moldings that fit and match the paint color, please post.

The link below came from a Google search, I know nothing about the company or quality of what they offer:

They do appear to have a selection box that has all the Bolt EV colors, the custom lettering is limited to 20 characters

thanks. Not sure why it didnt come up in my search. I also found out from my local dealer they can get side moldings and apply them as well. It doesnt seem to be a manufacturers option.

Dealers can do anything for you before the sale is made, it's getting then to follow through once they have your money that's often the problem. If the dealer can do it, great - but if it's a no-go item for you then it would be wise to have an alternative just in case.

...I have placed an order for these body side moldings. I will report back on the quality of them and the ease or difficulty of installation. Should be fairly easy.

by the way, there are several molding options. This is what I Purchased

1 x Chevrolet Bolt EV (Hatchback) 2017 Body Side Moldings Venom S
- Color: GGQ Orange Burst Metallic
- Text Option: Yes
- Text: BOLT EV

Cost with Color Options and Text was US $259.97

They say 5-7 days for production. I assume there may be a 1 or 2 day delay due to the 4-July Holiday.

Here is a status on the duration for MyCarTrim to produce moldings

Order Date: 29/06/2017
Ship Date: 06/07/2017

Considering the 4th was a holiday, there were 3 business days where the moldings were in production. I did not count today as I assumed it would have had to be done yesterday in order to pack and prepare and ship today.

I am now looking forward to receiving them.

So true, Sean. It's why I always present written offers that summarize all the freebies that the salesperson was so happy to include as part of the deal. Funny thing how I'll always get a callback from the manager backpedaling on what was promised, and it's like pulling teeth getting the dealer to respond back in writing so both parties know exactly where they stand. That's why I always put a 1-day expiration date on any offer I make. If the dealer doesn't respond, or chooses to jerk me around....see ya. If they aren't interested in selling me a car, it's a safe bet they won't be interested in providing after sales service.

The moldings arrived today. I am slightly disappointed in the lettering. I Thought it was going to be etched, but instead it is cutout chrome looking letters that insert into holes in the molding. So it adds to the complexity of the installation. And then there are the tiny parts such as the holes in the B and the O. I am hoping that the glue is strong enough and that these letters and holes don't fall out.

My daughter has the car so I cannot see how well the color matches yet. Once I figure out how to post a photo, I will do so.

OK, I have installed the moldings.

1. Color match is perfect. It even has the same paint sparkles that the paint has (Orange Burst).
2. Installation took longer than expected.
a. They recommended 7 inches from the bottom of the door. That is too low in my opinion. I want to protect the door from other cars opening their door into mine. 7" just doesn't work for that goal. I determined 15 1/8 inch from the bottom of the door.
b. Second item that took long was peeling that backing from the adhesive. After spending some time I found using a pair of good tweesers did the trick.
3. The lettering was easier to do than I thought. The Chrome letters don't have the same strong 3M glue and am slightly concerned that they may not last. Time will tell. They were easy to insert and fit perfectly.

So, how to people post pictures on this site?

There's supposed to be a way to do it internally. Haven't bothered to figure out how to do that and just link pics externally from Facebook.

Thanks for the pics, OP.

Would be nice if you could add a more distant profile pic for comparison w/the close-ups.

Not really my cup of tea but can see how they'd be useful.

OK, I will take a picture from the distance so you can see. I kind of agree, if I did it again,I would have chosen a different style.

When you are typing in the "Post a Reply" page (you get there after clicking on "Post a Reply" ...), there is a "Img" area you can click on (same line as "B" "I, u, Quote, ...)

Click on it, and you get "{img} {/img}" tags (with the 'curly braces' replaced by 'square brackets').

Add the URL between the img/img tags.

OR, simply past in the full URL of the picture, select ('highlight') the whole URL, and click on the "Img" . It will add the "{img} {/img}" tags at either end of the URL

If you "edit" your previous post (the one with the URLs) and do the 'select/click on Img' trick, all those slinks will become embedded photos.
Well ... theoretically, at any rate. I just tried it, and google drive apparently disallows "hot linking" to images, OR it requires a different URL for hot linking. (Some sites do not like the additional traffic generated by auto-display of images (hot linking) and disallow it to reduce hits on their site.)

I edited and it does not seem to like links to google drive. I only see placeholders. I guess that is what you described. I will undo the edit.

Yup, google drive turned that feature off about a year ago.
