What does everybody think about adding a feature to enable automatically setting the e-brake when you shift into park? This should probably be a feature that can be easily enabled or disabled, but default to being enabled (if it's not a terrible idea to begin with

Maybe it would work like this - Once If you're in P for more than 10 seconds it switches on, or if you turn the car off or (especially) if you exit the vehicle while it's on? I could see a few different algorithms.

Benefits: Safety in some situations, less stress on the transmission in some situations.

Problems: Duty cycle on the E-brake, towing, odd situations requiring the car to be in N (the car wash, probably others)

Thoughs?

Just unbuckle your seat belt when at a complete stop. It will automatically set the parking brake.

I also noticed that the parking bake automatically disengages, while in L, D, or R, and the accelerator is pressed.
Therefore, we never actually have to manually engage or disengage parking brake.
