Interesting article from Financial Times

Thought this would be good to share with the Bolt EV Forum!

Mark Ruess, GM's head of product development said that technical challenges of producing the Bolt Electric Car have been resolved, but there are still some outstanding commercial issues - whatever that means.

Pam Fletcher, GM's Executive Chief Engineer for EVs said that GM was well on its way to developing the critical 200+ mile battery for the Bolt. Ms Fletcher said GM had the “right proposition” for the battery. “We’re moving forward with that proposition,” she said.

Nissan is still a wild-card - Goshn still hasn't commented on the Bolt EV or Nissan's progress on a longer range electric vehicle. The only thing he said was that "we need to be patient" with the challenges facing the EV sector.

Commercial Issues ???

Marketing/Advertising... The Bolt will be sold to a different customer than Chevy normally sells to...
Pricing... Need to reduce costs still ???
Selling... Read on a Leaf forum that Leaf sales do not get normal commission but 500 for a sale and they get to spin a prize wheel...

True enough.

I guess my first thought about Bolt EV commercial issues was more with supply lines or delivery constraints, or even dealership issues versus actual end-customer stuff.

The marketing and advertising is definitely a good point - that will make or break it, or at least contribute to a fast up-take or a slow and prolonged acceptance of the Chevy Bolt EV.
