Regen braking using steering wheel paddle

Have a 2017 Premier Bolt. Discovered that regen braking using the paddle on the left side of the steering wheel works great for stopping the car but wonder if it alerts drivers behind that we are braking by lighting the brake lights. Tried it by looking at a reflection from a vehicle behind while at a stop and saw the reflection using brake pedal but nothing from paddle, however at a stop it may not illuminate. Can anyone answer this question do the brake lights light up during regen braking. Thanks

L and the Regen paddle both light up the brake lights during heavy deceleration. The brake lights go out once stopped.
