Bad battery cell replacement?

Fri Dec 15, 2017 5:59 pm

In the event a single battery module goes bad, can it be replaced rather than replacing the entire battery? By module I mean the thin modules that are layered into the complete battery. It looks as if one could be slid out and another inserted.

Probably, based on other EVs, but failure of a single cell isn't that likely.

Possibly at the factory. Not locally.
Or perhaps you want one of these (starts after the commercial - be sure to watch till the end):

Watched a video from California dealship where maintenance manager said, if you get a battery warning get bring car to dealership, they will put car on lift, drop the battery, run diagnostic to locate bad cells pull bad cell from group and replace, raise and reattach battery to car and you are out of there. At least that is how he explained it.
