Saw an ad from a Washington-based dealer offering $99 leases on the Soul EV. Based on other's experience...seems legit:

The Soul EV was the runner up in our shopping for an EV. As much as I love the Mercedes, if there was a way for a Canadian to participate in a lease deal like that, there's no doubt a Soul EV would be in my garage right now. That's a crazy deal on a 28 kWh EV!

Been there, done that ..

With all due respect the Soul EV is a good car but IMO: the Bolt EV is quite an advancement above it.

I pre-ordered a 2015 Soul EV three plus years ago and was very excited about finally getting a viable EV at a reasonable price.

I drove the Bolt EV when it first came out but was still obligated by the lease on the KIA. and frankly felt happy with it.

As my lease was coming to an end I started weighing my options for my next EV and after driving the Bolt again I was sold on it. It's way more fun to drive, carries less range anxiety and a better deal on the lease meant the other options including the Soul just wouldn't work for me .

Now amazingly I feel just as excited about the Bolt EV as I did three years ago about the Soul EV ..

PS: (I still get a kick out of those hamsters in their ads) .. LOL

:p

Well, for $300+ per month - it should be. No doubt Bolt EV leases will become more attractive as time goes by, but there's no denying the allure & magic of the $99 lease. Reminds me of deals on the Spark EV.

Yeah, it's really hard to pass up a deal like that. My EV was $89/mo for 35 months + CA tax on (89x35=3115) which is $280 = $3395. Add in the $399 "pay at lease return" fee, for a total of $3794. MINUS CA rebate (NOT tax credit) for $2500, and PG&E rebate of $500, means TOTAL COST for 3 years is ... $794 ($22/mo).

We are driving a pretty much brand new car, paying per month less than the cost of a week's worth of gas in our other vehicle. It's the vehicle we both use over 90% of the time (we both vary our schedules so that we can drive the EV, when possible) whenever we don't stray more than 30-35 miles from home. That's a *real* hard deal to pass up - and we didn't.

Doubtful. I've had a heck of a time even finding a car at all available in upstate NY.

One Rochester dealer has 11 available, http://www.rjchevrolet.com/VehicleSearchResults?model=Bolt%20EV
Another dealer shows 10 available and 2 in transit http://www.hoseltonchevrolet.com/VehicleSearchResults?model=Bolt%20EV

Lots of Bolts available, if that is what you were looking for...

There is a dealer in Schenectady with a glut of Soul EVs. Leases are running $147 to $190 or so, with $2k down. There are $18k in incentives! I'm driving one this weekend.

No, I'm not looking for Bolts. I was responding to the topic of the threat - the Soul EV.

Wow, that's cool! It took them long enough. I looked around for a while, but since gave up. I was told no Kia dealership in CNY is planning on carrying the Soul EV. Ever. But even that might have changed. Like I said - I gave up looking.

Let us know how it goes. I was really impressed with it. If not for the high price of used ones (at the time), I would have bought it. I like that Kia was one of the few that chose to go with a heat pump instead of conventional resistive heating.

I will, and I agree about the heat pump. Our local climate is warming a lot, so most Winter days are now within the sweet zone for one. A lot of the nights now, too.
