Can someone fill me in on what the MyChevy App needs in order to connect to the Bolt and report?
I am on an Onstar trial so I have the hotspot working and have viewed and updated before.
I’m unclear if it needs to connect straight to the car via its WiFi Hotspot or via Bluetooth?

Does car or my phone need to connect to the Key Fob for App to work?

Or does it just need to connect via the web and Chevy servers?

And does the car need to be “ON” for it to connect and report back?

And does it only work when actively Charging as opposed to just sitting in the driveway?

Currently the App is spinning after swiping down while car is Level II charging and I’m in the house on non-chevy WiFi.
Spinning, spinning, spinning.

thanks!

Hi Rosso,

I had this problem early on .. Once you establish an account at the 'Chevrolet Owner Center' you should have full access to the app:

https://custlogin.gm.com/gmb2cprod.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/v2.0/authorize?p=B2C_1A_SeamlessMigration_SignUpOrSignIn&scope=openid&response_mode=form_post&response_type=id_token&client_id=347218e4-bba6-410c-96ff-c32eb271757f&redirect_uri=https://my.chevrolet.com/oc_login&channel=chevrolet&nonce=d7958225-51a3-408d-ad03-965f7dfea89e&ui_locales=en-US

I use it to lock the car doors, to tell when my charging session has ended/will end so I can move my car out of the way for others to charge.

enjoy,
AJ

But is the precondition feature only part of a paid tier of on star or is it part of the 10 years free that supposedly comes with a new 2020 (which I just purchased)? Precondition is all I care about and when I set up on star they made it sound like I had to have the paid tier to have that feature.

Does anyone know? I've done some serious googling and keep finding different answers.

-- Congrats on your Bolt EV purchase! ..

My three year Bolt lease includes connection to "limited 'On Star' services" (without any charges in the contract). My car sometimes notifies me as such when I start it up and there is no monthly payment for that.

-- The app has worked flawlessly (it's a little slow to connect) throughout the entire 2 1/2 years I've been driving my Bolt EV. All I had to do was register for an account at the 'Chevrolet Owners Center' here:

https://custlogin.gm.com/gmb2cprod.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/v2.0/authorize?p=B2C_1A_SeamlessMigration_SignUpOrSignIn&scope=openid&response_mode=form_post&response_type=id_token&client_id=347218e4-bba6-410c-96ff-c32eb271757f&redirect_uri=https://my.chevrolet.com/oc_login&channel=chevrolet&nonce=d7958225-51a3-408d-ad03-965f7dfea89e&ui_locales=en-US

I don't know if the app will work without any On Star service at all .. sorry.

AJ

I have a 2017 Bolt w/40,000 miles on it, have never paid for OnStar. The app still works fine, I can check charge status or precondition at will.

OnStar is not usable for navigation, crash reporting, etc. Dunno what would happen if I get into a crash; will it call the emergency services, ask me if I'm ok, or..??? It's my understanding that the answer is "no".
