Longer future range?

Sun Aug 25, 2019 8:29 pm

Not that I need more range but I saw on one of the EV YouTuber's videos that the new/upcoming Bolt will have more range (30+ stated miles). I'm curious if that might be from a software update due to a change in the upper and lower battery buffer and we might benefit, or if there is a refresh coming up and the pack has a chemistry change. I've found myself being an EV advocate at the office and around town so just gaining info.

It's been reported that it's a chemistry change. https://insideevs.com/news/366750/2020- ... les-range/

Newby here. Don't know what y'all think is "long range" But my meter shows 300+ miles on every overnight charge.

The displayed range is an estimate based on your recent driving habits. Any Bolt owner get can that kind of range displayed after a charge if they've been driving at constant, relatively slow speeds (40 mph, for example) in warm weather on level or descending terrain. The real test is what kind of range you get after driving for a couple of hundred miles at 60 mph or so, which should give you something close to the EPA estimated range of almost 240 miles.

putting a little more air in your tire also helps, as well as swapping out for lighter rims/tires

Nokian WRG4's will make your Bolt drive like a corvette

Thank you! I'm going to get those Nokian's next month. This winter is supposed to be as bad or worse than last year.
