Lessons Learned From a Long Distance Winter Road Trip in a Bolt EV

The pro version costs $5 I believe, and is totally worth it if you want to "nerd out" on detailed information about the battery/charging. Once properly configured, it can keep logs of every drive (including GPS/speed location, and any data you choose to also log). Other tips? Don't drive to...

Lessons Learned From a Long Distance Winter Road Trip in a Bolt EV

Eh, I'm fine with being a guinea pig so others can learn from my experiences. Like take the train to NYC instead of drive.

At 10 cents/min, a 30 minute DCFC session with a Bolt well below 50% SOC costs around 13.6 cents/kWh. That is cheaper than the residential rates in a lot of places in CA. For someone that DCFC's a lot, EVgo probably wasn't making much off those people at all, even with the $14.95 monthly fee. So...

Price got jacked up recently. Now $19.95/month and 20 cents/min.

EVgo DC chargers were horrible up until the beginning of 2018. They're still not perfect, but improvement is being made.

FYI, EVgo jacked up their monthly plan rates recently. Now it's $19.95/month and 20 cents/minute. hosting photo

Torque steer - what's with that?

The Bolt's chief engineer's comments about torque steer: “We’ve got some special controls in there for that. Our steering system and our EBCM (electronic brake control module) has some pretty slick calibrations in there to combat torque steer. You can feel a little bit of it but I think it...
