AC charging - how to raise 12 amps limit?

The 8 and 12 amp settings are only for L1 (120V) charging. People will sometimes plug into an existing 120V circuit with other outlets and devices on them, and the 8A setting will prevent the breaker tripping or possible safety issues if other devices are drawing power from the same circuit...

EV tax credit delaying IRS refund?

Time to find a different accountant. Self employment tax is income tax (just no employer to do the withholding). There are Social Security and Medicare portions you pay in addition to the Income Tax. It doesn't matter if you "owe" at the time of filing, if there was any tax liability shown on...

Can I plug in a solar panel to my Bolt?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAE_J1772 Car needs AC power, supplied thru an EVSE. If you have the DCFC option, it will take DC, but only thru a charger. There is lots of communication as to voltage and amperage. You can't just plug a panel in.

So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

Kona & Niro are the 2 coming with that range and price. LEAF Plus will have 226 and likely also to be $37,495 GM hit 200K in December so their phase out starts Apr 1. Tesla hit 200K last July, so they are at 50% until they drop to 25% on July 1. All other manufacturers have not yet reached the...

So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

A quick search on this forum pulled these: Mileage: 10K miles / yr Agreed Value: 43510 (MSRP) Adjusted Cap Cost: 40403 Residual: 26106 Gross capital cost: $44,503.98 Capitalized cost reduction: $3,681.70 (should have been closer to the federal $7500?) Adjusted capitalized cost: $40,822.28...

So are we all going to end up buying our cars after our leases are up?

The original Bolt EV leases from GM financial had a residual of 61% of MSRP on the LT and 60% on the Premiere (@10K/yr). Higher miles per year allowance dropped those a couple of points.

How Much I Paid for My Bolt

I really hope you are not counting on the Federal Tax incentive to be a rebate. It is not. Those that are eligible for the low/moderate income boost to the CA Clean Air Rebate (hence the $4,500) are very unlikely to have enough tax liability to take full advantage of the Federal Tax Credit.

Charge: As soon as possible, or as late as possible?

People are big on quoting studies from Battery University done on small (cell phone) batteries with no thermal management (and no top and bottom buffers to speak of). The Bolt has been on the road for 2 years, and there have been no significant reports of less degradation by those that take...

    Two questions?

    1) Yes. If you charge @ 240V the Bolt will draw up to 32A if your EVSE will supply it (the 8/12 setting only applies to L1/120V charging). 2) It was a design decision and not unique as many EV's will go to a default drive mode and require a change to "Sport", "Eco", "L", etc.

Preconditioning: Why does it turn parking lights on?

Sounds like you are: 1) Talking about the parking lights and not the hazard lights (the hazard lights flash) 2) Are using remote start and not preconditioning. Try using the MyChevrolet App to precondition

Minimum charge rate when using the 120 VAC charge cord?

Are you talking about modifying the EVSE to "advertise" a lower rate to the charger in the Bolt by changing the pilot signal? Pretty sure any lower value will not be recognized by the Bolt and charging will not be initiated.

Need help with leasing numbers in the bay area

The 2017 MY was also different in that it received more ZEV credits and those credits traveled to and from other Section 177 States with no penalties or discounts. ZEV credits have value (as Tesla knows very well) and GM was willing to put some cash on the hood to stockpile some credits. It is...

Need help with leasing numbers in the bay area

Once again, location is everything (and not near enough info in the post). Bay area dealers have lot's of inventory, move big volume, and get incentives from GM. The OP may be in an area where there are only one or two Bolt's anywhere near them. What is the "agreed upon price"? How much CCR is...

Level 1 Charging With A Generator

From pg 246 of the owners manual: Similar language is included in virtually every owners manual I have seen, but I also know that people charge their EV's successfully with generators. A good ground is crucial, after that, you;ll just have to try it and see. Unlikely that you will actually...
