    Bolt convenience question

The Bolt's app uses the cellular system, so the "range" is essentially unlimited. It does have to be set up for your car; my salesman did that for me. It does NOT react instantly, the delay is apparently dependent on the cellular system. You do not need to be subscribed ot OnStar for the app to...

    2020 Steering Wheel Controls

I'm unsure of the differences, but I've recently upgraded my 2017 to a 2020 Bolt, Premier version. I can change the radio stations from the steering wheel, just like the old one, and can make a phone call from the wheel controls also. You might dig into the settings menus to see if something is...

    2020 customization

I had a 2017 Bolt for nearly 3 years and 49,000 miles and got Newcaritius; traded it in on a 2020 model, Premium trim level. Couple of issues: I had dome "something" so that pressing the lock/unlock button the the door(s) would unlock all doors with a single button press. For the life of me, I...

Towing really heavy stuff with the Bolt

For your occasional needs to more the Airstream, I'd suggest finding a friend with a pickup truck to do the job. At worst, you could hire someone who's in the business of moving RVs. Check with a local RV dealer. In fact, you could probably hang around the lot and approach a customer who's...

Siemens Versicharger Dead After Only 5 Years. Ugh!

Another unit to look at is the Clipper Creek HCS-40. If you buy it w/o a plug, you can obtain a 6-50 and put it on the end of the included pigtail on the Clipper Creek. Many folks here use the CC (including me) and have had good experience, even if it fails. Look for the thread on the subject.

    Cameras didn't turn off

I'm usually rolling before the infotainment is booted up, it's kinda slow. It gets a head start, too, as I ALWAYS push the Start button, then fasten my seatbelt. Will see if I can replicate it, maybe on Sunday. (that's my Subway day)

    Cameras didn't turn off

2017 Bolt Premier w/surround view camera system: Left the Subway Sanwich shop; had to back out of my parking spot, go about 40 yards to the main road, then turn left onto the road. Noticed that the cameras were still active and the radio wasn't playing. Travelling at 45 Mph or so.. Had to...

    MyChevrolet App questions

I have a 2017 Bolt w/40,000 miles on it, have never paid for OnStar. The app still works fine, I can check charge status or precondition at will. OnStar is not usable for navigation, crash reporting, etc. Dunno what would happen if I get into a crash; will it call the emergency services, ask me...

    Charging interference?

I'm pretty sure that my operators use the rolling code scheme, they're only 6 years old. Again, BOTH doors were opened, so it's not just a single failure. The operators on the garage doors have a fairly short range, the car has to be within 60-80 feet for them to work. OTOH:, I have a barn with...

    Charging interference?

My 2017 Bolt w/37000 miles resides in a detached garage (30'X30' pole barn) that has a 60-amp subpanel fed from the 200-amp service in the adjacent building. Subpanel is connected to its own ground rod, sunk into wet soil. The subpanel feeds a Clipper Creek HCS-40 that I upgraded to when I...

    ClipperCreek support is awesome

I also have the -40 CC EVSE; it had a problem after 2 years. Like you guys, CC replaced my unit after ascertaining that the unit was broken. Great company, great product, great service!

    Garage Door Opener Recommendations?

The outfit that built my garage (30' X 30' pole barn) installed a pair of Chamberlin operators on the 2, 10' wide doors back in 2014. These are no doubt the low-end model, they have no WiFi, but did come with 2 fobs each. They have been flawless in operation. They're chain drive, I wouldn't...

    Gauging battery health

For someone wanting to buy a used Bolt, is there a way to guage battery health? Mileage alone wouldn't necessarily be a good indication; i recently watched a U-Tube video of a fella with a Bolt that has 100,000 miles on it. He claimed that his battery had lost only 9% of its original capacity...

    Charge time finish

My 2017 has an HTR setting of either 'off' or 'on'. If it's 'on', the car charges to only 90%, when 'off', it goes to 100%. I don't think it makes much difference in the failure to finish by the time set in the configuration.

    Charge time finish

I've noticed that the car often takes longer to charge than it's supposed to: The other day, I set the HTR to "off', and the charge completion time to 7:30 AM. It wasn't done yet at 8:15. Today, with HTR 'on', charge completion time set to 10:00 AM, it wasn't finished at 10:15. Yet, it does...
