That's great to hear you've finally taken possession of your Bolt. We are in the same boat - we only sat in the Bolt at the Toronto auto show and have never driven it either. Looking forward to that experience. Ours was built on the 14th and we are approaching the 3 week point for delivery...
Congrats! I ordered through Roy Foss Woodbridge with a Jan order date as well. How long did it take from the day it was built until it arrived at the dealership?
Hey guys - definitely looks like Canadian orders have been a priority this week. My Bolt was built on Monday this week and it's already made it thru QC according to my dealership. I suspect there will be quite the convoy of car carriers with Bolts crossing the border very, very shortly. :D
From what I'm learning, some initial allotments won't be built until the end of Q3. Initial allotment unfortunately doesn't mean built right away. I don't agree with it, but that's how GM is still rolling initial allotment builds out in Canada. I would simply call your dealership to confirm...
Well, just as an update to my Bolt order, on May 3rd I finally had enough and called my salesman at the dealership that I ordered from. I confronted him about being in their initial allotment and that's when I learned from the salesman that they had actually lied to me. On Feb 18th, when I...
Well right now I'm not a happy camper. Ordered 18th of February from a dealership in Toronto - part of their initial allotment. There have been numerous customers in Ontario that ordered well after me, into March, that have either already received their Bolts or have received a TPW already...
I think that would be a great feature that GM could easily add into the Bolt. I think it would be a nice selling feature as well. I already have a dash cam and will install it once my Bolt arrives but having one built in would be the cats ass. With all the great ideas coming from the various...
Ahhhh, I get it now. The Bolt max's out at 7.6kW when using the J1772 plug. In order to get anything more than the 7.6kW requires using the DC plug which lvl 2's don't use. That's a shame. Using that 11.5kW charger would have been nice. That being said, I'll save quite a bit of money buying...
Hold the phone! Sun Country Highway is an approved EVSE manufacturer and they have a product called the EV60. It's a 48 amp EVSE outputting at 11.5kW. Here's the brochure - http://www.suncountryhighway.com/Content/EditorUploads/files/SCH_EV60_Brochure(1).pdf
It requires a 60amp breaker which...
Very true. Here in Ontario we get a 50% rebate on the cost of an EVSE as well as a 50% rebate on the install of one. There are select EVSE's that are approved for the rebate though so when all is said and done, I think that will be the deciding factor and not the size of the cable or breaker...
I look at this way. In the US and Canada, the Bolt is only available in certain States and Provinces - only in locations (for now) which are driving the EV culture in both countries. The fact that the Bolt has sold slightly less that the Leaf, with far less availability than the Leaf is very...
I had a look at the cable and it's 1000V #6 AWG 3C NORTHERN CABLES TECK90 armoured cable, using copper. That should be sufficient for any of the home EVSE's on the market. I have a friend who is an electrician so I'll seek out his advise as well prior to purchase.
