    RECALL

Some peace of mind as to the urgency of the recall work. Also, an expectation as to whether the work will just take 1-2 hours, or whether you'll have to leave the car there longer. Cheers, Wayne

    RECALL

The interesting part is below, it involves checking whether any modules are 80 mV or more below average while the SOC is between 30% and 50%. Is there an easy way for an owner to download this info directly from the car without going to the dealer? Cheers, Wayne 3. Vehicle ON, use GDS2 to...

How To: Install upgraded telescopic sun visors

Thought I'd give my report on doing this. No drilling, takes under 5 minutes once you figure it out. I used the 2019 Chevy Bolt parts (the 2018 Chevy Bolt parts would also work, but the online vendor I was using had the wrong retainer clip part numbers for 2018. If this error was in the...

    60 Amp Breaker

For 60C wiring methods (NM, UF, LFNC, some LFMC, SER under some circumstances and code revisions), the ampacity of #8 copper is 40A, and of #6 copper is 55A (which means that for a non-receptacle fixed load of 55A or less, you can protect it with the next size up breaker, 60A). For 75C wiring...

    60 Amp Breaker

It would be an NEC violation. A 14-50 receptacle has to be protected by a breaker that is 50 amps or less. Cheers, Wayne

    Programming Garage Door Opener...

Nope, I wouldn't expect any problems. I don't recall having had to make any non reversible alterations, and so unless my post a year says otherwise, I believe it would be entirely reversible. Not that I'd have any reason to reverse it, it works perfectly. Cheers, Wayne

    Can't add False Floor later?

A sharp utility knife, with two hands on the knife so you can't easily cut yourself. Less mess than a power tool. The cut doesn't have to be too neat, as the plastic brackets you are installing will cover it. Just try to stay within the embossed circle. Cheers, Wayne

    "Full" battery levels dropping daily

Supplying a NEMA 5-15 receptacle with any voltage other than 120V (nominal) is an NEC code violation and a significant safety hazard. While the harm could be reduced by using a simplex receptacle and prominently marking the face plate (and maybe using a bubble cover over the receptacle that can...

JDapter (trademark) Tesla Charging for all

Tesla Destination Charger = Tesla's wall-mounted Level 2 AC charger Tesla UMC = Tesla's portable, plug in Level 2 AC charger Jdapter will allow you to use either with your Bolt EV. You might run into a Tesla Desination Charger at a hotel or something like that. You might run into a Tesla UMC...

JDapter (trademark) Tesla Charging for all

Here's a 5 minute primer: Electrical power is typically delivered as either AC (Alternating Current) or DC (Direct Current). Batteries use DC, while your household power is AC. A battery charger converts AC to DC, at the voltage required by the battery. EVs come with a battery charger in...

    Not enough federal tax liability!

Your statement about tax before and after deductions is confusing. In income tax language, a deduction is something you subtract from your taxable income before calculating your tax. Anything you subtract after calculating your tax is a payment or a credit. So if the $3K are withholding or...

How does the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit Work

The EV Tax Credit is a nonrefundable tax credit. So if your income tax is at least $7,500, you will get the full benefit. If your income tax is less, it will reduce your tax liability to 0. Income tax is line 44 plus line 45 if you file form 1040. Cheers, Wayne

    Is Chevy investigating seat complaints?

My perhaps limited understanding is that if the class is certified, then all owners would belong to the class unless they opt out. So are you looking for additional lead plaintiffs? Cheers, Wayne

    Charger problem with new outlet

Sounds like it is the ground check on the EVSE tripping the GFCI. WAG, the factory is causing noise (distortion) on the power lines that makes its way to your office building, and the noise affects the GFCI so that it effectively has a lower trip threshold than normal. If so, then using a high...

    Charger problem with new outlet

Is the breaker by chance a GFCI or AFCI breaker? What happens if you plug the J1772 into the car before plugging in the EVSE? I don't believe there's any problem with that order, although when unplugging everything, it is best to uplug the J1772 before unplugging the EVSE. Cheers, Wayne
