Bolt Winter Range and Driving Experience

I totally agree... battery conditioning is based on the battery pack temp, not the ambient temps. I keep my car overnight in a heated garage, so battery is likely 50-60 degrees when I leave my house. Probably warmer if I’ve been charging. But even after getting cold-soaked for >12 hours in...

Bolt Winter Range and Driving Experience

There are actually two different types of “conditioning” with the Bolt, which is where most of the confusion comes from. PRECONDITIONING is accessed through the MyChevrolet app or the “remote start” button on the keyfob. Preconditioning will heat or cool the cabin for 10 minutes before you get...

Bolt Winter Range and Driving Experience

I’ve now got enough winter driving experience with my Bolt EV that I thought I would post a review and share my experiences. A bit about me. I live in a mountain resort town. I’ve put around 6000 miles on my Bolt in the first 5 months of ownership. My primary mission is to drive to and from...

    Bolt EV Key Not Recognized

I’m 100% sure my issue was KeyPass. In my first month of ownership I had this problem apx 6 Times, all while KeyPass was enabled. Since disabling KeyPass, >4000 miles with not one single episode. Doesn’t meant there aren’t other issues that are caused by something else. But I believe my...

    Winter Tires & Wheels

Toyo Celsius seems better all around than the factory tires. Dry road performance similar, perhaps slightly better. You can still chirp the tires on 0-60 full acceleration. Cornering is better. Wet road performance is significantly better than the factory tires. Haven’t had a chance yet to...

    Winter Tires & Wheels

I recently purchased a set of Toyo Celsius all-weather tires. These are a 4 season tire that is rated for snow and has snow tire ratings comparable to a dedicated snow tire. I suspect I will only get 2-3 seasons out of them... but don’t have to worry about switching out tires twice per year...

    KeyPass

I’ve had major issues with KeyPass including car alarm going off and Key Fob not being recognized repeatedly. Since turning KeyPass off, 100% of those problems have gone away. Not really sure what KeyPass is supposed to do that the Key Fob and MyChevrolet app/OnStar don’t do. In my...

Has anyone had this problem? Key Fob, Bolt won't start.

Have you got “KeyPass” enabled? If so, try disabling that and see if your problems go away. I was having all kinds of problems with KeyPass including alarm going off and Keyfob not being recognized. After disabling KeyPass, my problems have completely resolved and the Key Fob works perfectly...

Driver seat making my Right leg numb ??

I’ll bet you a nickel you keep your wallet in your right rear pocket? If so, try moving that to your front pocket first. I frequently see what we sometimes refer to as a “wallet palsy” where men get pain or numbness in their sciatic nerve from sitting on their wallet. The Bolt seats will...

    Bolt EV Key Not Recognized

So does anyone know if Chevy support is still monitoring and responding to posts on this forum? It looks like they were in early days, but I don't think I've seen any replies from them in recent past.

    Pre-purchase questions re: rain sensor & pre-conditioning

No, the 2017 Bolt doesn't have rain-sensing wipers as an option. Chevy hasn't announced 2018 model features or timing yet. You have Hi, low and adjustable intermittent wipers as your options. Also, I'm not aware of any way to set up remote start/preconditioning on a scheduled basis. Not sure...

    Bolt EV Key Not Recognized

I had the same question. The thing is... I think the KeyFob IS being detected! The door unlocks, which wouldn't happen without the KeyFob. But when the door unlocks, it is triggering the the horn to start beeping and then the alarm to go off. I've disabled KeyPass. Can't really figure out...

    Bolt EV Key Not Recognized

Question for you: do you happen to have the "Keypass" feature enabled? I'm starting to wonder if it is related to that.

    Bolt EV Key Not Recognized

OK... there is a definite bug in the key recognition process for the Bolt EV. I've now experienced this 6 times with my Bolt EV Premier. Firmware version 14.1.0. I do have Keypass turned ON with my cell phone. Here is what happens: 1) Press the small button on the door handle to unlock...

The return of the missing key fob

I've had this happen twice. Once on first day I owned the car. Second time about a week ago. Unlocked door with the button on the door handle. Got in car and pressed on button. Both times it occurred I had unplugged it from charger before getting in. I've never had it happen when car was...

No more glare from trim above main screen!

Covered it in place. I used the 3M primer to coat the edges of the chrome piece so the vinyl would stick better (primer didn't seem to leave any noticeable stain or residue on the chrome when it dried, almost more of a cleaner than a primer). Then used blow drier to heat the vinyl and a v...

No more glare from trim above main screen!

Ever been blinded by glare from the chrome trim above the display on your Bolt? I applied 3M DiNoc carbon fiber vinyl to the trim piece yesterday = no more glare! Looks great, matches the interior of the car well. Total cost was about $10 in materials off Amazon.

New to Leasing: Advice about this Bolt Premier lease offer

Does the car have DCFC? Is 10,000 miles a year enough for your useage? If so, I'd take that deal. Total cost of 3 year lease is $11760 (35 payments x $336 = $11760). That's pretty good deal in my opinion.

Sorry to beat dead horse but..recommendations for upping mileage

Double check in "energy settings" that you have "Hilltop Reserve" mode set to OFF. Sounds like it may be ON. Hilltop reserve mode limits battery charge to around 175 miles to allow room in battery for regenerative energy to go into the battery. If you are 100% charged at top of hill, it would...
