    Bolt runs while powered off!

Thanks for the info! I will try that next time something like this happens!

    Bolt runs while powered off!

First time I have seen this one! I got a little cold driving to work as I could not adjust the temperature and I did not feel like stopping and restarting the car.

    AM Radio Reception

AM reception on my Bolt and on every GM vehicle that I have ever owned is very poor compared other makes in particular Honda. I don't know why they cannot seem to figure out how to put a decent antenna on a car! I was unable to listen to Giant's games on a large part of my commute after...

    miles due to regeneration

Good point and something that I had thought of. I could never get exactly zero on the energy used on these experiments and I always erred on the side of using kw as opposed to regen. The pickup in speed in my experience is rather noticeable. There is definitely drag reduction when in 'N' as...

    miles due to regeneration

I have done a bit of experimenting with regen vs. coasting in 'N'. Several times I have been on slope where I could get the kw used to zero and then put the car into neutral. In every case there was an immediate increase in speed while coasting in 'N'. So as several posters have pointed out...

    miles due to regeneration

Okay I see your point if the electric motor is always spinning and putting the car in N simply disengages the regen?

    miles due to regeneration

I can explain this by an example. Say you were on a grade were you could take the car out of gear and coast at a steady 55mph. In this situation if you were in gear you would need to apply a certain amount of juice to overcome the drag of the drive train and maintain 55mph. There is gain...

    miles due to regeneration

Very good point! We are thinking along the same lines. The system that I was thinking of would sense the speed desired by the position of the pedal and then determine weather to apply more juice, apply regen or put the car in neutral to coast. Might not be possible and probably something that...

    miles due to regeneration

Yes there is no exception to Newton's close approximations and I did not mean to imply that there was. I believe that we are in agreement that using regen instead of friction brakes is more efficient and perfectly in line with Newton which was my point. The best case scenario for maximum...

    miles due to regeneration

True except of course for the case where you are using the friction brakes to slow down while coasting. For instance I drive a fairly steep hill every day and when I drove a manual transmission Honda Civic I coasted down the hill saving gas and adding some extra wear to my brakes. With the...

    Bumpy Ride - Stiff Suspension

My Bolt was sold as soon as I started the test drive in large part due to the feel and handling of the car. When I move the steering wheel I expect something to happen! LOL probably a hold over from my days many years ago driving Porsche 914s with rock hard rear springs and front sway bars...

Too much regen in D mode

Coasting actually is more efficient when the slope is such that you can maintain speed in N. If in gear you would be losing speed due to the extra friction of the motor that is only be overcome by adding energy and using up some battery power. On a steep slope it is much more efficient to be...

How many actual Bolt owners on this forum?

Bought my Bolt early July and I am really enjoying driving it!

    No Hydraulic Brakes !

My advice is to call Onstar in the morning and have the car towed to the dealer. Since you have posted here that you know the brakes don't work you are in danger of being liable for anything that happens even if it is not not your fault! Most likely you will not have any problems but why take...

Almost hit this morning... collision avoided.

Yeah I know, did not intend to whine. I would say that there is no pleasing everyone. I drive 100 miles a day in a lot of different situations from country mountain roads to 101 north in rush hour and I have found that I really want full regen all the time. Like I said I am probably in the...

Can I buy rubber floor/cargo mats?

Can you? I asked my sales guy when I bought my Bolt and he said 'it comes with them'. I looked on line at Chevy parts and there is nothing. I have seen some on line from other vendors but they did not look like they were a good fit for the Bolt.

Almost hit this morning... collision avoided.

Yeah I should have mentioned that I always drive in L mode. I would prefer that L mode use full regen when letting off of the accelerator, I do use the paddle to slow faster at times and I would rather not have to deal with it. I suppose that I might be in the minority on that one...

Almost hit this morning... collision avoided.

Speaking of Regen I would like to disable the paddle and get full regen all the time and not have to try to find the paddle when I am trying to slow down fast. At least the delivery driver did not give you the one finger salute!

Too much regen in D mode

Well, I was driving a manual so I was not really driving in "N" and it does save a lot of gas because I was not using gas to overcome the friction of the engine, this is very simple physics. I saved a great deal of gas doing this! You should go out and drive a manual transmission car and try...

Too much regen in D mode

I have read this discussion with some interest as I have a great deal of experience coasting with the vehicle out of gear. I drove a 2002 Honda Civic manual transmission for 300,000 miles (100 miles per day) coaxing 43mpg out of it by popping it out of gear any time that I slowed down. I can...
