    My bolt is completely dead

MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT TYPE OF CHARGER. The Bolt uses an AGM battery which is different than your typical lead acid flooded cell battery. Most importantly has a special charging curve so be sure to use an AGM trickle charger. Unlike a traditional battery, an AGM does not recover well...

    Weird battery (maybe?) issue

Just for grins measured the voltage on my battery today and it was ~12.62v about an hour after driving (no keyfob or EVSE). It was more than 12.7v when I measured with the car in a similar state two weeks ago, so I thought that was not a good sign. Hooked up my BatteryMINDer to see what it...

    Weird battery (maybe?) issue

The 12v battery would read more than 13v while it's being charged (for instance after startup if the car is not in transport mode) and something over 12.6v when 'idle'. If it is below 12.5 the battery is hurting. Note that 'Idle' is a tricky word in the case of the Bolt. I interpret 'idle'...

Google "gm tpms relearn tool" several will come up with a range of features and prices.

Bolt EV powers down while driving, with "Minimum" 15 miles charge remaining

This power reduction is common for an EV, but not without several warnings and certainly not with 15mi left. The idea is that, if you reduce to golf cart speeds, you can get another mile or two more than driving normally. Tesla cars, like the Mercedes B-Class have a reserve button that you...

Indication for auto seat heat please.

Is there a way to just put it on manual? Trolled around the setup menus and didn't see anything. I just want it to turn on when I tell it to and be off by default when I start the car. e.g. make it operate like every other car I've ever used.

    OBD-II reader

Mine has a physical switch on the reader. Anything else means the part is in sleep mode (so that it still can be activated remotely via the radio. That means there is a power draw and that it could still be hacked by someone pairing with it who shouldn't. There are two or three brands that...

    OBD-II reader

Basically it depends on which brand you have and the model of ELM327 ASIC that is in it. Some have a sleep mode, some do not and some just have have bugs. From what I have read on other forums, most of the better ones turn off a few minutes after the car shuts off. Google "ELM327 Power...

    OBD-II reader

I don't think it matters what the power source is. Since it's low-power Bluetooth, I would say that it is barely measurable compared to the other electronics. However there have been a plethora of 12v battery issues listed on the Bolt forums. There may be a systemic problem with how the 12v...

    OBD-II reader

Yes that does look promising. More importantly, one can apparently one can create a "Torque plugin" that will display customized data. So I might be able to create a Bolt specific plugin that does what LEAFSpy does. I will be looking into that this weekend.

    OBD-II reader

Unfortunately there is no VoltSpy which reads Volt specific PIDs and displays cool contextual information like LEAFSpy Pro. However I am told that Torque Pro will display most of the info I want. The key for me is (1) the BT OBD-II reader has a physical power switch so it is only...

Found said relearn tool on Amazon, it's now $21 for the GM specific model.

    OBD-II reader

Just got my new BT OBD-II reader today (couldn't find the one I used in my LEAF a while back). Probably won't get to testing it until this weekend. I'll use this thread for posting my experience. Unfortunately most of the general Apps are geared towards ICE information (fuel mix, tachometer...

odd photo related to the phone charging pocket

Yes, they should sell a cover for those who don't have wireless charging capable phones so that one doesn't unconsciously put change or other paraphernalia in there.

    Winter Tires & Wheels

My father always said that narrower tires were better in deep snow, but wider tires were better on ice and packed snow. I believe the logic is larger surface area provides more friction on the more slippery ice and packed snow giving wider tires an advantage over narrow tires in those...

    My bolt is completely dead

The Service Mode issue may be it, or it could also be something draining the battery when it shouldn't. So they need to make sure that there isn't an unusual draw when the car is idle. Read the details on Collimare's service report. And if that is the problem, make sure they do the correct...

    My bolt is completely dead

There are actually two threads on this subject: How a 12volt Battery can kill an Electric Car and Towed to the Dealer after two weeks and 351 miles. The upshot is that your 12v battery may be dead. An EV needs a 12v battery in order to function. Counterintuitive given there is another huge...

odd photo related to the phone charging pocket

For something to happen, your phone needs to be capable of wireless charging. In the past there was a special case that you would buy. Now there are some phones (e.g. the new iPhone) that come with wireless charging capabilities, no phones before last year could do wireless charging without...

Towed To Dealer after 2 weeks 351 miles

Acknowledged. No one wants a product that doesn't work and then, when it does work, the manufacturer can't tell you how or why it started working again b/c they didn't 'fix' anything. As I said, the issue noted the ChevyBolt.org thread seems like a possible root cause, If Service mode was the...

    Electrical draw.

I have a meter upstream of my EVSE. The draw is zero when the car is fully charged. However I have only checked in the morning and an hour or so after I think it topped off, meaning I cannot vouch for how long it takes to stop spinning the meter.
