Time for a level 2 charger. Suggestions?

I use the factory OEM charger, with the "pigtail" attachment. Very happy with the result. I use a garden hose holder to keep the charge end out of the rain. I had to use a dremel tool to relieve a bit of plastic to make way for the electric wire. Rich

    Pigtail for Bolt

Doc, your question: "I just got my 2019 bolt recently and though the Charging cable that came with it looks like the one in this post it clearly says 120v on the other side. Is this what you all have been supplying 240v to without issues?" The answer is, yes. Been doing it since I came home...

    Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

We’ve had our 2019 Premiere for about two weeks, so, this is just a newbie observation. Should not the EV manufactures out there put a low 12v battery warning light/symbol in their vehicles? Rich

    Rate Chevy Bolt

My wife and I have owned/driven our 2019 Premier for about two weeks. Really enjoying the car (we have five, including the Bolt, as we live in two states ~"snowbirds"). Much prefer driving the Bolt to any of the other vehicles we have (in MA, at the moment; Jeep Wrangler Sahara, RAV4, and the...

Lessons Learned From a Long Distance Winter Road Trip in a Bolt EV

Thanks for that interesting trip report. Having put 20 years in the NYPD I find that I have no desire to return to that city (too crowded, too expensive, too noisy, too tough to get around. But, otherwise, it's fine.) Hope to pick up either a Bolt (most likely choice) or a used 2018 Leaf (long...

Bolt OEM Tires v. Summer Tire Performance

Arthur, thanks for the interesting article. I do not yet own a Bolt (my intention is to purchase either a Bolt 2017 or a Nissan 2018 Leaf in 2019 -- I will keep the car on Cape Cod and will only spend five months a year there, hence the logic of procuring a used vehicle). As I will be using my...

Cross country trip with my Bolt

You are going to have some adventure! I live on the Cape (well, in the summer at least!), so am with you in spirit! Do keep us posted on your trip. Rich

    120 volt charge cord included?

I know of no reason why the dealer should put two identical charging cables in the vehicle and charge you that extra money. One cable comes with the auto and you might well want to buy an aftermarket 240 volt version, but that has nothing to do with the dealer. Yes, I'd demand they take one of...

"Transport Mode" -- For long term storage

I stumbled on this site and thought it might be of value, noting how many discussions there are regarding long-term storage methods for the Bolt: Transport Mode...

Massachusetts- Quirk Chevy in Braintree = GREAT DEAL !!

I live on Cape Cod and hope to buy a Bolt fairly soon. I checked Yelp for dealer reviews. Kinda sad. Quirk gets two stars out of a possible five. Near the Cape, in Plymouth, is Tracy Chevrolet, with four and a half stars, which is where I'll start my search (I'm typing this from AZ at the...

I envision a conversation happening like this some day...

This old guy had (over a period of time) three of those! The first, a 1963 Bug, bought from a fellow serviceman in Berlin Germany in 1967 for $350 bucks! Rich

I envision a conversation happening like this some day...

Conversation which will take place sometime in the future, between an older guy and a young man. OG=Old Guy YG=Young Guy OG You kids have no idea how good you have it. When I was your age we had to put an explosive liquid in our cars in order for them to run. Everyone did. Called it...

    Battery Management

Yes, those are my concerns as well. Although daytime "hot weather period" temps go up to over 105° at night the temperatures drop into the eighties. If I read the owner's manual correctly, a SmartCharger (already have one on each of my four cars when they sit for half a year at a time. Work...

    Battery Management

Hi. Brand new to this forum. I’ve just read through all eight pages of “Batteries and Charging.” Learned a lot. Here’s the deal: I live in two places; Cape Cod, June through October, and just south of Tucson, end of October through end of May. So, my cars sit for long periods of time. In AZ I...
