    Extending battery life

I think there is already a thread on this, but I would like an update from people who really know about electrical engineering and can comment from some expertise. I have read that battery life is extended if we: 1) use hilltop reserve so the batter is not fully charged up; and 2) recharge only...

Is my Bolt in danger of being hacked?

Previously we have only owned cars that essentially were not able to communicate with the outside world. Obviously, the Bolt can communicate (Onstar, updating software via airwaves, etc.). This bring up the question of whether we could be hacked remotely. The really scary stories are cars...

    How often to recharge?

We do level 2 charging in our garage, so we can do it as often as we please. We rarely use more than 5% of the charge during a day. We could charge up each day, or after several days. We have heard that it is bad for the batteries to charge frequently. We suspect it makes no difference...

Any Technical problems with using Tesla Supercharters?

Assume that a proper adapter is produced and sold (perhaps by Tesla) and that Musk gives permission and charges appropriately: Is there any technical reason why Bolts could not use the Tesla Superchargers? I realize that is a little like asking "other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like...

JDapter (trademark) Tesla Charging for all

This item is being sold for a few hundred dollars. It honestly says it does not work with Tesla Superchargers. So I conclude, it does not help Bolt owners at all. But I can't tell what it would be used for if not the Tesla Superhargers. Are there other Tesla stations (not super) that would...

Dealer Inspection at 5,000 or 7,500 miles

As far as I can tell from the manual there should be no need to go to the dealer until the tires are rotated at 7,500 miles. But my dealer sent me an email saying 5,000 is right. I suspect that is a standard email that they send to everybody and really only applies to ICE cars. Right?

    FM Radio does not work

Sirius XM works wonderfully, even inside my garage. But I will let that lapse after the free period. I have three public radio stations which I sometimes listen to, none of them comes in clearly on my new Bolt. One is pure static, one is very rough with static, and the third comes and goes as...

Working the AC in the winter

The users manual recommends using the AC monthly in the winter. I think this is to keep the AC seals lubricarted. My experience from ICE cars is that failure to do this results in loss of refrigerant. For ICE cars I have found that one can do this by turning on the windshield defroster for a...

    Tire sealant and compressor kit

Has anyone had an opportunity to use the tire sealant and compressor kit to repair a flat? I have read here that some of you say just call OnStar and have the vehicle towed to a tire store. Others say keep a spare tire (not inflated) in the trunk. I have read the users manual on how to use...

Amazing low cost to run an EV

I just got my household electricity bill for the first full month of charging my Bolt with AeroEnvironment level 2 charger in my garage on top of the usual electrical usage. It is about $5 or $6 more than usual. We drove about 800 miles during the month all in city, rarely above 50 MPH. Now...

    Charger adapters

What adapters for various charging stations are available so that the range of stations I can use is expanded? We visited a Tesla station last week. There were stalls that clearly said Tesla only. But there were other stalls beside them which seemed to indicate that they were open to others...

    Nitrogen in the tires

Does anyone know whether these self sealing tires are filled with nitrogen instead of air? My mechanical engineer buddy says nitrogen is better because it does not react with the rubber. But I thought perhaps these tires already have pure nitrogen. Also, I am concerned about whether it would...

    Bolt EV License Plate Frame

In looking for license plate frames I saw one that had the Bolt EV logo, but I can't find it anymore. Can someone point me to where I can find one?

Bolt EV Icon for Front License Plate

I am thinking about removing the front license plate holder. However, if that is not wise, I would like to put the cool BOLT EV icon on a license plate and put that on the front (my state does not require a front plate). I have found a Bolt EV icon on a license plate frame, but not on a plate...

Need Results of Removing Front Licence Plate Holder

I want to remove the front Licence plate holder. I understands that the bolts need to be drilled out. Has anyone removed this successfully and what does it look like? Is it clean underneath? How big are the holes in the grill? Help please.

    When to recharge?

We have solar panels on the roof and have net metering, but we do not have time of day pricing. So from a financial perspective it does not matter when we recharge our Bolt. But as good citizens when should we recharge? If we recharge during the day we will reduce the amount of power we...
