L mode to D after complete stop

In addition to the Bolt holding in D if you come to a stop using the region paddle, it also works if you come to a stop in L, hold the regen paddle and shift to D, then let off on the regen paddle.

Sadly Chevrolet is supporting Trump's attack on California's fuel standards.

I think this week's announcement re: batteries and 10 new EV models kind of illustrates why GM was opposed to tougher MPG standards. To achieve higher MPG, engineering costs need to be spent on ICEmobiles. But, GM apparently wants to put their R&D money into BEVs. It seems to me, more BEV on...

    2020 owners!

Just saw a post on Reddit that bulletin 20-NA-053 - DC Fast Charge Robustness Improvements has been issued for 2017-2019 Bolts the enable the 2020 DCFC charging curve to be applied to all models. I assume there is a cost for the service, but the improvements seem worth it. Has anyone with an...

Regen in L doesn't always work

This! Regen is limited when SOC is near full, in my experience, somewhere like 92 - 95%. This is to prevent overcharging. The primary display will indicate the limited regen in two ways. First, on the right side where the current kW used is displayed, there will be a horizontal white line...

L mode to D after complete stop

When in D, the car will creep...but if you bring it to a stop with the Regen paddle, it will hold just like when in L.

    Pigtail for Bolt

Ok, I am more confused now... So I have the stock 120V EVSE, and a Siemens Versicharge with a 10-50P plugged into a 10-50R in my garage. When I travel, I could bring the Siemens unit along, and would need a 10-50R to 14-50P adapter for most camp\RV sites? So that would ensure a 30A charge...

How common is it to charge 300 miles?

I have seen it reach 280-290 on Hilltop Reserve. I rarely charge to 100%. My daily commute is mostly downhill for the first half and it is not uncommon in the summer to hit 300-325 on the middle number. If I charged to 100%, this would be quite common. One time, when going on a trip and...

    Cost of charging?

Power companies transmit at very high voltage to overcome resistance\loss en-route. As a % of power delivered, resistance consumes a bit less power. Also, with a shorter charge time, if battery conditioning kicks in due to extreme temperatures, the shorter charge time translates to less...

    Bolt EV on Hawaii 5-0

"CBS seems to be an advertising vehicle (pun intended) for Chevrolet" Also, Windows. I think they finally switched to Android phones, but for the last few seasons they were using Windows phones.

    GoFundMe-ing a fast charger?

Many states are using the Electrify America\VW Settlement funds to add DCFC to major Interstates. CO is targeting $85M over the next year on DCFC for I-25\I-70\I-76, and will be adding DCFC on scenic routes after that. CO is working with UT, MT, NM, WY on an Inter-State plan to ensure DCFC...

    CO Trip Report

Recently took a 380 mile (each way) adventure through the heart of the CO Rockies, our first EV Trip. We live between Denver and CO Springs, along I-25. The fastest route would be 290 miles via Co Springs, Buena Vista, Salida, Montrose and finally the destination, Ouray (the Switzerland of N...

No more glare from trim above main screen!

My biggest complaint about the screen is that in bright conditions, the screen is hard to read. Would be nice if there was a retractible hood that could block the sun from hitting the screen. Not just the Bolt, but just about any car with a large touchscreen near the top of the center console.

    Dashboard cover, Finaly!!!

Ditto. All of the sites I found with dash covers have generic photos, not specific to the model. Does it cover the lighter colored section where the vents are? One of my beefs on sunny days is the reflection of the lighter colored dash section reflecting over the side mirror view. On the other...

    Bolt Efficiency, How Accurate?

Thanks, that is helpful. I would imagine lower efficiency in extreme weather when conditioning and pre-conditioning are used.

    Bolt Efficiency, How Accurate?

Curious about your findings of kWh meter vs spreadsheet. I assume this would indicate the actual power used during charging, including any loss due to resistance, battery conditioning, etc, How much difference do you find? I have heard estimates between 15-30% more power is used in charging than...

    Bolt Efficiency, How Accurate?

So, jot down the details daily (or every time you charge it) and plug them into a spreadsheet?

    Benefits of OnStar

I realize this is an old thread, but as a new Bolt owner, I am new to and wondering about ongoing OnStar. Plus, you guys all have another year under your belt so might have updated experience from when this was last active. When I bought the car, I was told I would get +3 months of trial with a...

    Bolt Efficiency, How Accurate?

I have put 5100 miles on my Bolt. I mainly use it to commute 125 miles per day and end up with high 4 or low 5 mi/kWh efficiency. I typically use 25 kWh of energy each commute day, so in the 35 or so days of commuting, I estimate using somewhere in the neighborhood of 750 kWh to charge the car...
