Autonomous Chevy Bolt EVs drove 9776 miles in 2016

The most impressive part was where the driving took place. Urban environment, the hardest part of autonomous driving.

    Driving LA to San Francisco

99 hwy is only 30 miles longer than the 5. Best strategy is full charge at start and DCFC at low SOC.

    L2 Chargers For The Home

I got the GE indoor/outdoor charger. It has a jumper setting for 20/30/40 amps. Took me 1 hour to install the charger and the homerun to the electric panel.

Hyundai Ioniq Numbers Flatten Chevy Bolt, Toyota Prius

I would just lease a Fiat 500e. Can't beat $59/month. I'll probably ebikes to work.

Hyundai Ioniq Numbers Flatten Chevy Bolt, Toyota Prius

Hyundai will have the Ioniq unlimited program in California. Unlimited miles, maintenance, repair, and electricity for one monthly payment. If it cost $300, I'm jumping on that deal.

    What about 480VAC charging?

In the US. Residential get 120/240 single phase. Commercial get 120/208 3 phase (wye) Industry gets 277/480v 3 phase (wye) and up. The office gets power by stepping down the power, with a transformer. 277/480v -> 120/208v (wye). There is no receptacle that will handle 277v. We use a special...

Which options are worth having others not worth it.

I pretty mad at GM for not including ACC and not making all the safety features standard on the premier.

"Don't GIMP the Bolt, add the DCFC."

Hyundai Ioniq Numbers Flatten Chevy Bolt, Toyota Prius

I already explained where that extra kWh is coming from. The battery in the Ioniq has 50% less engery density than the Bolt EV. The battery is there but is Hyundai willing to pay more?

Which options are worth having others not worth it.

DCFC is not only about long distance travel. Sometimes you need a little extra range during the day to account for weather and driving speed.

Rydell Chevy Bolt EV for $299

No. $2500 down $299 first months payment $751 tax, license, etc.... Total: $3550 You bring $3,550 to the table. Personally, I´ll wait until and demand dies down (6 months max).

Which options are worth having others not worth it.

The most popular option for the LT model would be DCFC and Drivers Confidence Package, bring the total to 39,295.00. I would negotiate the price down to 37,295.00. Penske Chevy was showing that price before they jacked it up back to $39,295.00.

Hyundai Ioniq Numbers Flatten Chevy Bolt, Toyota Prius

The Bolt EV has 50% more energy density than the current Ioniq battery. 40-44 kWh is easily achievable. Long as it satisfies my needs, I really don't care about compliance.
