    Design defect in 110v charger

Painting it white is probably the simplest solution. Unless you can find an outlet that isn't in the direct sun.

VINDICATED: Finally - GM to launch updated vehicle navigation system

Here's another reason. My Mini SE has built-in nav. It has a "green-routing" option not available via Google or Apple maps. Moreover, it knows the state of charge of the car and can find charging stations along my current route. I can find a charging station along my route based on my...

VINDICATED: Finally - GM to launch updated vehicle navigation system

You are free to your opinions, but I'm with BoltEV. If you don't want the service, don't buy it. It doesn't affect you. If we want the service, we can buy it. After all, it was promised to us 5 years ago! Here's another real-life scenario. I was driving Adirondack mountain roads...

Mileage/charge limitation after using Electrify America

I have not seen this issue before. Your actual situation is hard to follow/understand. Instead of referring to "miles", what is the battery's state of charge? You can get it in 5% increments from the dash (there are 20 bars on the left). You can get it in 1% increments from the app. Instead...

    Bolt convenience question

Are you sure? In the US, I got 3 months free of full OnStar capabilities, and 5 years free of the Basic. Why rip off the Canadians like that?

    Bolt convenience question

Wow, that's awful! I would not pay $24 for the basic service. I don't think I would pay half that.

    Measured battery capacity 63.2 kWh

Thanks for the details, much appreciated. I would hesitate to put a percentage on your degradation loss though. You are comparing a measured value to a marketing value. It would be much better to track the measured numbers over time. Last time I measured my 2017 Bolt, I was showing 57kWh...

How do you disengage the cruise control in single pedal L mode?

I use the "cancel" button on the steering wheel more often, but will use either method. I have found that it's easy to reach with my thumb without looking. It is the closest to the outside of the wheel. Pressing the brake pedal also cancels cruise control, but I rarely use that method with...

Use of the cargo well - 2020 Bolt LT

This. I tried removing it and using it to store my stash of EVSEs and extension cords. But that floor just caves in without it. I've thought about fitting a thin piece of plywood across the gap, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

The Chevy Bolt Is the Ugly Car of the (Very Near) Future

Oh but it is always double-counting. The increase to your e-cost is not as much as the decrease in your gasoline cost. That has nothing to do with PV. But if telling yourself it does makes you happy, suit yourself.

The Chevy Bolt Is the Ugly Car of the (Very Near) Future

The trouble is, this is double-counting. If you convert from ICEV to BEV, you see those savings regardless of whether you went solar. So Jack's concern still stands.

2021 Bolt: How to maximize range

You are referring to miles of range used per miles travelled. But you just got the car, so the "miles of range" estimate may not be based entirely off your own travel yet. The 2017 "got to know you" and your driving habits. That's why the range estimate was centered on your range used. Let...

Should i be concerned with battery degradation?

80 miles should be no problem. However, are you taking that trip in the winter or just the summer? Do you have an outlet to plug into when you arrive? If this is a winter trip with nowhere to charge at your destination, make sure there are public chargers somewhere along your route.

    Bolt convenience question

I think you do need an OnStar basic plan for the app to work. However, all Bolts come with 5 years free, and the oldest Bolt is only 4 years, so everyone still gets it for free.

The Chevy Bolt Is the Ugly Car of the (Very Near) Future

As someone who races sailboats for a hobby, I feel this in my soul. But being "unnecessary" doesn't mean your hobby isn't worth it if it gives you satisfaction.

Slight Chevy Bolt Traction Battery Degradation after Nearly 30,000 Miles

Oh, and congratulations on the new 2020 Bolt! How is the extra 10% battery? Is it a significant difference based on your driving patterns, or just a minor bump?

Slight Chevy Bolt Traction Battery Degradation after Nearly 30,000 Miles

As always, thanks for the great writeup. Unlike most bloggers and forum writers (myself included), your stories are always so easy to read. I did my own test recently with the second method (using only the car's dashboard). A few months ago, I measured that my car had about 56kWh usable after...

    stock charger says 120V

I ran a 50A circuit to a 14-50 outlet. It is a common outlet at RV parks, so the EVSE I bought will also work there.

    myChevrolet status update

The OnStar basic service is free for 5 years. I highly recommend setting it up. It's great to be able to precondition the car from anywhere with cell service!

EVGo announces a new partnership with GM for 5 year tripling of stations

Ok, but I have not seen EVgo chargers that cost only $0.30/kWh. And nor does the Bolt get a nominal 2.2 mpk. In NY, EVgo is $0.27/min. The fastest EVgo I have seen in the state is 125A. That's a peak rate of about 43kW. The average charge rate is about 40kW. If you charge past your car's...
