Why can't I lease a bolt in Georgia for under $550 a month?

I doubt very much if the real world price on a 3 year old 2018 LEAF will be much above what the current gen get. Bigger battery, but still no thermal management and a 200+ mile 60kWh model available. Until the leasing program is announced, we're all just guessing.

Nissan should have used up all of its allocation for the fed tax credit before 2021 (when 2018 lease returns will happen) - IF there even still is such as thing still in 2021. That will raise the purchase price of a 2021 model by $7500, making used ones more attractive (and more expensive). I expect 2018 lease returns to be more expensive than $7000 (the approximate price of a 2014 LEAF return today around SF) - I'd expect them to be over $10K. (I also expect 2015 LEAFs to cost around $5K in 2018, because they are 80-mile vehicles.)

So I found a dealer in Boston that will do an out of state lease still a tad more than I wanted to pay but I'm going to do it since our Leaf is useless with my wife's new commute and doing our gas car on that route will be expensive in gas and maintenance. My wife starts her new job Oct 2nd and even 4-6 months of gas car driving on this commute waiting for 2018 leaf or cheaper in state Bolts would cost us probably $400 a month in gas.

3Yr, 2k down, 12K miles per year - 450$ a month (was $420 but we wanted leather seats)
Going to pay to have the car shipped here around 1K

Car is exactly what we wanted, leather seats all the drive/entertainment packages the right color etc.
The quotes I was getting here in Ga for $550-600 a month were for 10K miles and not the exact car color/details we wanted

Thanks for the suggestions on out of state dealers, this dealer originally said no when I called a few days ago then yesterday I got a call from one of the sales guys saying he specialises in out of state leases on the bolt and has sold a few out of state Bolts due to the issues I'm facing and is able to work out the registration here and everything. I had given up and moved on till I got this call yesterday.

Here is the dealer, nice to work with, no jerking around doing all paperwork through email and over the phone

Did you try Quirk in Boston? I got a Bolt from them last month for WAY less than what Muzi wanted. Just FYI.

Between the two dealerships that were mentioned, Muzi is a personalized shop with good customer service and knowledgeable EV people in return for higher pricing, while Quirk is a large-volume shop with more-aggressive pricing in return for non-existent service. Each of their respective sales volumes can be found here: www.mor-ev.org/program-statistics . Between the two I would personally suggest that you try to stick with Muzi, because they are more likely to be helpful dealing with the complexities of an out-of-state lease, but you could also negotiate their lease by showing them Quirk's pricing.

Some deals in Massachusetts can be very good because of MA Drive Green (www.massenergy.org/drivegreen) and MA State Rebate (www.mor-ev.org). Those deals may be available for out-of-state purchase or lease (www.mor-ev.org/frequently-asked-questions#Application10).

So dealers in Mass will lease to out-of-state residents? I just tried talking to Herb Connelly and they refused, suggesting that I'd get a better deal locally since I wouldn't qualify for any incentives - it sounded like I wouldn't qualify for Chevy incentives, let alone MOR-EV or the state program (obviously).

I'm going to stick with Muzi, I'm ok with the price, would have liked under $400 a month but we got the exact car we wanted( grey, leather seats both driver packages also has quick charging, 12k miles) and we have already singed alot of the paper work.

They are going to register and get the tag on the car before they ship it. They made it REALLY easy and knew all the issues involved with out of state leasing and are taking care of all of that for us.

It seems most dealers don't want to hassle with out of state leasing but this particular salesman figured out how to do it before for Bolt leases and is more than willing to go through the process for us.

I think that you made a good choice. I don't know who your salesman ended up being, but Rob Roderick at Muzi is helpful and knows a lot about EVs. Maybe you are also eligible for the MA state rebate, even though you're leasing from out-of-state? You could try calling MOR-EV at mor-ev.org/contact-us to ask. I've found that they pick up the phone quickly and really know their stuff.

Congratulations on getting your new EV!

Finally got my Bolt last week. Exact model we wanted. Car lives up to expectations, range is great, ride is smooth looks good, we got Grey exterior with leather seats. I still wish we could have paid $250 a month like you can in Ca but I probably got the best deal I could in my state.

Muzi an MA was great to work with, great dealer. Rick Hendricks Chevy in Duluth Ga can bite me though for doing a bait and switch on me and wasting my families time so I was not happy at all with my local Chevy dealers
