Re: Wants to buy a Bolt

Im a dyed in the wool, gas guy, and don't think I'd ever buy a total electric car. As far as the car...My son is telling me this car can go 300 plus miles on one charge. From what Ive been reading, its more like 240 miles. Ive also read about some issues with A/C and heating. So, as a protective pa...

Re: Wants to buy a Bolt

I have a son, whom is 28 yr. old. He's got a job. He just paid off his 2006 ford F150. He is now looking to purchase a newer car, and the car he WANTS, is a Chevy Bolt. I believe its a 2019 LT 4dr. wagon. As a parent, I'm trying to find a good reason for him to need this, also as a parent, I'm tryi...

Re: Can I plug in a solar panel to my Bolt?

If you have the DCFC option, it will take DC, but only thru a charger. There is lots of communication as to voltage and amperage. You can't just plug a panel in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combined_Charging_System As an electrical engineer, it might just barely be possible to do this with out a ...

I am new to all this. So thanks... What kind of plug do I have? CCS Chargepoint's site calls this "DC- Combo" And what do I look for on Chargepoint site regarding charging my Bolt regarding "plug". Check the box saying DC - Combo, and only the CCS capable sites will show up on C...

Re: little 12v battery under hood

Most everything in the car works off the 12V battery....lights, heat, radio, wipers, A/C, computer, etc. Of course the drive motor works off the main battery. There's a lot of discussion about how to check the 12V battery, but it seems that it doesn't give warning when it dies. And when it dies, yo...

Re: Wenatchee to Seattle

Hi all. Anybody driven on one full charge from Wenatchee to Seattle? Or more specifically, from Wenatchee to the Bremerton area. I have not, but I'm wondering why a charge stop isn't in the plans, at least as a contingency? I'd take Rt 2 to Monroe, then 522 to 405 to 5 to the Edmonds ferry, then Ki...
