Re: Charging at Electrify America

I went to an EA site in San Diego yesterday, and it failed miserably, on two levels. First, the chip readers in the pay stations don't work, but when swiping the card the card does read so eventually I figured that out. Yes the charge cords are too short, barely long enough to reach the the plug on...

Re: 2017 Bolt Brake booster failure question

If you have a legitimate safety angle to the problem, then I'd file a complaint with https://tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/defects-recalls-vehicles-tires-child-car-seats/report-potential-safety-defect-vehicles-tires-child-car-seats. For those in the US, file them with NHTSA at https://www-odi....

Re: Hot while charging

https://www.chevybolt.org/threads/battery-conditioning.33279/#post-512173 describes the battery thermal management behavior. Even WITHOUT the AC compressor engaging, when you AC charge, even 120 volts, the on-board charger will heat up. This is normal. Try charging for an hour or more then opening t...

Re: Drive the ARC

I've sucked down over 350 kWh of free CCS juice from them. Oddly, when using the free reservation charges, the transactions ($ and kWh dispensed) don't show up in the EVgo app, so if one wants to track the # of kWh from those sessions, you gotta do it manually. I have yet to make a reservation, so ...

Re: Drive the ARC

DTA is still giving free/discounted charging for both CHAdeMO and CCS. However, depending on time of day, depending on location, the discount could be 0, 25, 50, 75 or 100% off: https://drivethearc.com/congestion-pricing-drivethearc-start-september-3-2020/. Free tends to be at night until maybe 6 am...

Re: Bolt = Big battery?

I often wondered if I could run a small 12 v inverter off my bolt 12v battery in case of emergency . I imagine you keep your amp draw on the dc side of inverter within the exceptable charging amps of the bolts 12v battery system. I will also look into the possibility of extending or disabling the 2...

Re: Drive the ARC

(thread resurrection) It was only free for CHAdeMO since inception but earlier this year, they quietly added free CCS charging, as well. See posts below. https://www.mychevybolt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8383&p=35568&hilit=drivethearc#p35568 https://www.mychevybolt.com/forum/viewtop...

Re: Charging at Electrify America

Yes, per https://insideevs.com/news/389891/exclusive-interview-electrify-america-problems-solutions/ don't use the credit card readers and I guess by extension, don't use NFC either. Use the app to start sessions. As for supporting the handle until the plug's locked to the car, it's been known for a...
