Re: DCFC: Difficult "handshake" to initiate charge

I'm under the impression that the CCS standard just isn't as robust as the big stupid CHADEMO connectors with their CAN bus interface, at least as popularly implemented. The weight of the cable seems a bit excessive for the mechanical size of the plug and the plastic. Maybe they need to water cool t...

Re: Off grid charging the Bolt

Ground the neutral. It should be grounded at the service entry anyway, there and ONLY THERE. Attached article explains why this is important. Option 0: Hire an electrician. Hire somebody else to burn your house down and electrocute your kids. This is the only legally permissible advice to give. Opti...

Re: The Bolt E-U-V

And here it is in all it's camouflage fugliness! https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/autos-hybrids/the-2021-chevrolet-bolt-euv-will-be-gms-next-electric-car/ar-AABH4AI The question is, what do I do for the year between when my lease is up and when I can buy this? I guess I could drive a $1200 dinosaur b...

Re: uppbaby vista stroller in trunk

I can't personally confirm, but my second kid was why I bought the Bolt. I needed the space if you can believe it. Stroller-wise, we always ran Graco click connect, they're in it for such a short time, and the strollers always fit, especially if you take out the false floor. And as you know, Graco i...

Re: The Bolt E-U-V

Stow N Go seating - there's a word from the future! Most of the time I ended up just pulling my non-stow-and-go seats out so they could be a love seat in the shop office, so I could fit lumber or steel in the back of the "Covered Wagon" Wasn't Chrysler supposed to make the Pacifica BEV at ...

Re: The Bolt E-U-V

The Bolt approaches today's possible level of perfection as is. We have no need of an EUV, but would trade tomorrow if the 2020 Bolt comes with AWD. jack vines I mean... I guess so. As my kids are growing, it's hard to fit their crap in the trunk, and with the "baby" starting to get to th...

The Bolt E-U-V

Anybody care to speculate what the Bolt EUV is? C'mon, everybody likes to talk about stuff they know NOTHING about, especially me!!! OK, well here's what I was hoping for... It's a Bolt A little more ground clearance 75 kwh pack A 2" receiver in the back for towing a small trailer or a big bike...

Re: Driving in "L" when it is slippery

Yeah I personally get a little skeezed out driving on snow and ice in L in the Bolt. While I'm sure GM 'thought of this' my fear is that the increased regen will allow the tires to break free the moment I lift off the accelerator, and how do I then recover from this is an unknown re-apply throttle? ...

Re: Drive range questions

The motor is 6 phase. This means there are six sets of coils that make a magnetic field to push the rotor around, connected to the 6 phases output from the inverter. eh.... I might have to disagree on the details of this, and sometimes stray a tad off topic, sorry, and I know you're knowledgeable, ...

Re: Turn Signal Noises

I do know that the blinker noise is created "artificially" - Sometimes when the car turns on and off, the blinkers may still be blinking, but the clicking is absent. Whether it's normal for the sound to change, I can't say, but since it appears that it's not created by the actual device sw...
