Re: Turned on heater first time. Range dropped 20 miles

Yes, the heater consumes a lot of power, at least initially. Heating all of the air blowing into the cabin takes a lot more power than heating the seat and steering wheel.

Re: Safety issues

I would think that "big, red lights on the back of the vehicle as a "WAKE UP MORON - I AM STOPPED" sign." can only help. People run into the back of buses and semitrailers stopped with their brake lights on. If you don't even notice the car itself, the brake lights may not help ...

Re: Safety issues

There is an artificial noise that is generated at low (parking lot) speeds. If you have the radio off and the windows down, you should be able to hear it while driving.

Re: Regen question

Since the brake pedal ALSO causes regen,, how can it be less effective than one pedal mode or the regen paddles? If I slow down with regen, how can it matter which way the car is told to regen? I suppose that if I were to brake hard enough to actually engage the brake pads that would be a differenc...

Re: Charge: As soon as possible, or as late as possible?

My Honda Fit EV was plugged in to charge to 100% immediately after arriving home (the worst case scenario according to pundits). We did this for close to 5 years with no noticeable range loss. We did notice a couple of mile drop when new tires were put on after ~4 years, so we did maybe lose a few ...

Re: Chevy free Basic APP through Onstar no longer free.

https://www.onstar.com/us/en/plans-pricing/compare-plans/ compares the various OnStar plans. It looks like the only OnStar services that do not require a paid OnStar plan are the following: Vehicle Diagnostics* Marketplace* Smart Driver* Dealer Maintenance Notification* In-Vehicle App Access* Remote...

Re: First Use of JDapter Stub for Tesla Destination Charger to Chevy Bolt

I'm still waiting for Tesla to open their supercharging network to all EVs, and sell adaptors for CCS and CHAdeMO  I'm not holding my breath. Tesla SuperChargers have a tendency to be full, because so many Teslas have free (or free up to a limit) SuperCharging, so their owners tend to use them...
