For some reason this doesn't look that great to me... but I'll wait until we see high-res shiny photos from CES in January 
Plus, who cares what it looks like if I can go 200 miles for under $40,000!
Looks like the General took some design cues from the i3 (and of course the Volt) for the Bolt EV.

Well, the first test in the Bolt EV taking the world by storm is what it looks like, and I think GM has done a great job!
The second test is whether they can make it to market at the projected price (under $40,000), and whether or not they can produce them without taking a loss. If so, then GM will look to sell as many as they can vs something like the Spark EV where they sell just enough to make their emissions numbers.
