    Multiple tapping sounds

Just got my car back from the dealer. The “Advanced Diagnostics” update fixed the brake booster for me. My Bolt is finally quiet.

Sticky Brake and Propulsion Power Reduced

Here we go. I've been having brake issues for a while now, which have only gotten worse once new pads were installed. My right front caliper is sticking, and while it released on its own after a hard brake event the last time it happened, today it returned. Family was driving the car and when...

    Multiple tapping sounds

Push on the brake pedal. Does it go away? Mine's been doing this since I got my new battery. Something is off with the brake booster and it flutters constantly now.

    Turn signals on rear bumper?

I never understood this. I remember hearing that one of the first Bolt EUVs to hit the road was rear-ended shortly after delivery because the main brake lights are in what looks like tiny reflectors on the bumper and not the main tail lights on the hatch. Dumb design that, of course, the entire...

    2017 LT, dubbed Photon

Hey, all. It’s been requested to post here with my Bolt, which is known elsewhere as Photon. I purchased it shortly after Bolts first arrived in Pennsylvania, just days after the Model 3 launched in 2017. Since then, I’ve put 46,000 miles on it with the recall battery replacement being installed...

New to EVs, buying a used Bolt in a few months. Which accessories / equipment do I need?

I’ve only honestly quick charged my Bolt 4 times in 3 years, but I still recommend getting DCFC if you have any thoughts at all about traveling in the Bolt, even for just day trips. My LT has comfort and convenience package, which probably isn’t necessary in Tucson (heated seats and steering...

    Electronics Failure?

Yes. You’ll need to hold both down until the radio reboots. Takes about 10 seconds, IIRC. Haven’t had to do mine in a while. Glad it’s working now.

    Electronics Failure?

Try the radio first. Usually, letting the car charge gives the radio enough time to fully shut down, and that might be enough without rebooting it. Usually, my radio will hang at a black screen when I desperately need heat or A/C, which of course is problematic as these are controlled by the radio.

    Electronics Failure?

Sounds like everything wrong was just the center interface? You could try rebooting the radio by holding the next and home buttons until the Bolt EV screen appears. This has fixed most issues for me.

Too much regen in D mode

Then I'll leave with just this disclaimer. If you choose to coast in Neutral, keep a hand on the shifter so you can get back into gear quickly, be aware that you need to shift before regaining motive power, and use the friction brakes when necessary (panic stops, when regen alone isn't enough...

    how are 12v accessories powered?

We know that a DC-DC converter powers the 12 volt system. Does anyone know what the power output rating is (amps or watts)? I use my I-MiEV as a mobile battery from time to time with its 80 amp DC-DC converter (960 watts). Just curious if I can run a 600 watt load from the Bolt.

Too much regen in D mode

Umm, why would anyone use friction brakes while purposely shifting into Neutral in the Bolt? Drop it back into Drive/Low if you need to slow down. Using Neutral is only to shut off regen for coasting, not bypass the motor and rely on friction brakes (which would be way more wasteful than the 13...

    Hello from ChargePoint!

Will do. CHAdeMO and CCS seem to be plenty in city centers, but there's almost nothing intercity. We definitely could use some stations along highways between cities. I'll be putting this link to use  .

Too much regen in D mode

How long do you usually coast? It's easy to slip into Neutral and truly coast when you want. Hold the shifter forward for a second. To go back to Drive, just click it back. Just be aware that you have to go back into Drive to get power or regen.

    "propulsion power is reduced"

It won't. When the i-MiEV runs low on charge, the range gauge counts all the way down to 2, then goes to ---. At that point, it is mental math based on SoC on how far you have left. --- occurs at about 10% charge (even though the gauge is empty and the turtle light is on). There are two Android...

    DC Fast Charge

This is why many people (including myself) advocate to make the DCFC port standard. With the time, labor, and material to design, build, certify, and install two different ports, it would probably end up being cheaper for GM to simply put the same port on every car. There's no way two cables and...

    "propulsion power is reduced"

Most every other EV out there has a reserve below 0 miles. The i-MiEV has about 5 extra miles hidden. The Volt, I understand, has 2-3 miles when the battery and gas tank are empty. I haven't had my Bolt long enough to even get down to 25% let alone all the way empty. Typically, 0 miles would be...

The Bolt will lock itself with you on the outside and the key inside !!

I just tested it. The buttons don't work if the fob is inside the car, to lock or unlock. How it can tell where the fob is so accurately is astonishing (buttons work if the fob is within an inch of the outside window on the inside). I made sure the auto-lock and auto-unlock were the first things...

Used Model S vs New Bolt

I'd say that either a used Model S or a new Model 3 would be about the same value. The Model 3 is only a little smaller than the S, and both are considerably larger than the Bolt. The Model S would still pull ahead of the 3 in that they have free Supercharging. Tesla's main advantage is their...
