Really want a Bolt - Tell me about yours

Never used lane assist or adaptive cruise...not even sure the car has it. The Bolt has two drive modes, "D" and "L". To me, regen for D is practically non existent, but L is aggressive. There's also a regen paddle behind the left of the steering wheel that when pulled, makes regen even more...

Really want a Bolt - Tell me about yours

'19LT with confidence 1 and II packages. DCFC also. Stiff suspension means you feel the bumps in the road...kinda like a harsh ride but not mushy like a 20 year old pickup with blown shocks. It's not all that bad but it's not a plush ride, at least to me. Hope this helps. Edit: Tesla does not...

Really want a Bolt - Tell me about yours

The Bolt is a great car for the money. The electronics are great, better than Tesla IMO. Some people don't like the seats but I didn't have a problem. To me, suspension seems a little stiff. It's a great commuter car. It's a capable road trip car, but fast charging is not all that fast...

Spare Tire Kit and Other Accessories to Recc

I think Chevy Cruze wheels fit? You should check Personally I don't want to put slime in my tire---it gets on the wheel and makes it hard to balance. I carry a tire plug kit and an small portable air compressor, and a pair of pliers.

How Much I Paid for My Bolt

How long the battery fix takes depends on your place in line. The '19 models that were made in the last half of '18 are more suspect than the others and are being fixed first. I think Chevy wants to get this over with as soon as possible, so maybe 6-9 months for the rest of them? Just a guess.

    Melted 240 outlet

The pictures aren't showing but from your description, I'd say the total current available is 35 amps. So to meet code, you shouldn't use more than 80% of that, or 28 amps for your charger

    Melted 240 outlet

35 amp breaker? Code says to only use 80% of breaker amps for continuous use (like charging). So your max current should be 28 amps. If the outlet worked ok for 10 months but recently caught fire, sounds like a connection worked loose. That can happen as wires heat and cool, expand and...

DCFC: Difficult "handshake" to initiate charge

Great story. Glad it turned out well for you. Thanks for posting.

    RECALL

Yes, GM is working on this but from what I've read they are going to replace defective modules. I don't know how they know which modules are defective (maybe they can trace modules by date and they know when the "very rare" defect occurred ) but you won't necessarily get a new battery unless...

    2022 Bolt Owner Questions

I don't know for sure about the 2022 model but all other years have a setting where you can limit charge level. Look in the charging menu....it's probably buried in there somewhere. Set it for 80-90% and you won't have to worry about when you plug in, etc. Note: the setting is % battery, not...

    2022 Bolt Owner Questions

You're not driving the car enough to get a good data set for the guess-o-meter. After all, it's just an estimate. Efficiency is not so good for any EV when you start driving because it takes a lot of energy to get the car up to speed. A 5 mile drive will have lower efficiency, so your...

    Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

Sounds like it's ok now. FWIW I purchased one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Palumma-Charger-Adapter-Display-Battery/dp/B0773BYS6P/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3VMU268K5S686&dchild=1&keywords=palumma+24w%2F4.8a+dual+usb+car+charger&qid=1627995198&sprefix=plaumma%2Caps%2C453&sr=8-3

    Dead Car, Dead 12V Battery

I dunno. Maybe one of the wires you uncovered somehow grounded? If that happened, I suppose the battery would go dead again, like really soon. Keep us posted.

Main USB ports (connected to main screen) Failure

I suspect this is a very specific Chevy thing and the dealer might be your best bet. I would try to reset the system (home +fastforward) and if that didn't work, disconnect the negative terminal of the 12V battery for a few seconds, then reconnect. If none of that works....dealer time. Edit...

    RECALL

I suppose anything is possible, but in my opinion, the separator in the battery is getting compromised (probably from dendrite growth) which causes a short. Then the energy stored in the battery is "dumped" through that small area which causes a fast temperature rise and leads to a fire. I'm...

    Charging/Range

The fly in the ointment is your charging situation. At 120V and 12 amps, you'll be charging around 1kW which will give you around 4 miles added range per hour of charging. Not enough for your 146 mile round trip. You can find chargers near you (or along your commuting route) by looking at...

    Software Update For Range

The software update shouldn't change your actual range. Remember the GOM is an estimate and will go up and down depending on a lot of factors. It looks like it might have affected charge time, though...
